‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Post-Credits Scene Sets Up The Punisher’s Return As Frank Castle Breaks Free

The finale of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ was nothing short of explosive. With Matt Murdock battered but not broken, and Wilson Fisk now gripping New York City with an iron fist, the stage is set for an all-out street-level war in the MCU.

However, just when fans thought it was over, the post-credits scene kicked the door wide open. It not only teases what’s next for Daredevil in season 2 but also lights the fuse on a long-awaited Punisher return.

Born Agains post-credits sequence reminded us exactly why Frank Castle remains one of the MCU’s most unpredictable and dangerous wildcards. Moreover, it also answered one big question: when will we see the Punisher again? It starts in the shadows. The post-credits scene of the show brings us back into the suffocating darkness of Kingpin’s underground prison.

Vigilantes who refused to bend the knee have been locked away. Among them is Frank Castle, the Punisher himself. But if anyone thought Castle was going to stay locked up for long, they clearly forgot who they were dealing with. What follows is classic Punisher, no gadgets, no powers, just unrelenting brutality. Frank charms a young, unsuspecting guard named Anthony Petruccio, luring him in with a handshake.

The moment Petruccio drops his guard, Castle snaps into action, viciously breaking the man’s hand and arm. We don’t see what happens next, but a body hits the floor, and Frank is free. This moment sets the tone for what’s to come with the Punisher. We know Frank doesn’t play well with others. So, while Daredevil is busy gathering his allies, the Punisher is likely planning to wage his own bloody crusade against the AVTF and Fisk’s regime.

This perfectly teases up the confirmed Punisher Special Presentation, set to arrive on Disney+ in 2026. Jon Bernthal will not only reprise his role but reportedly also co-writing the story alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Story details are still under wraps. However, all signs point to it picking up right after this jailbreak, and fans couldn’t be more hyped.

The final moments of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 1 made it abundantly clear: this is no longer the story of just Matt Murdock versus Wilson Fisk. It’s a battle for the soul of New York. With Fisk declaring martial law, banning vigilantes, and imposing city-wide curfews, it’s no wonder Matt is assembling a team. The streets aren’t just unsafe, they’re a warzone.

However, as exciting as that is, the potential crossover between ‘Born Again’ and the upcoming Punisher project is even more intriguing. While they may share a common enemy, Matt and Frank have always stood on opposite ends of the vigilante spectrum. Their uneasy alliance in the show felt like a maturing of their relationship. Still, it remains to be seen whether these two men can ever truly fight side by side.

Matt wants to restore order; Frank thrives in chaos. That contrast could drive the central tension of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2, especially if Frank resurfaces in the climax. But there’s also a strong case to be made that Marvel will let the Punisher wage his own war. Fans are already speculating about how this anti-vigilante storyline could bleed into other corners of the MCU.

But for now, only ‘The Punisher’ Special Presentation and ‘Born Again’ season 2 are officially on the slate. One thing is clear: what ‘Born Again’ just did was quietly monumental. In a universe dominated by cosmic threats, time travel, and multiversal chaos, this finale brought the MCU back down to the streets. Then again, the post-credits scene didn’t just tease a Punisher comeback; it confirmed it.
