David Harbour, who portrays Red Guardian in Marvel Cinematic Universe, has expressed his frustration with the constant speculation and rumours surrounding the upcoming film, ‘Thunderbolts*’.
Harbour believes that these online discussions are more than often misleading and that fans should not rely on unverified information. In addition, he also talked about the film’s comic accuracy and the meaning of the ‘*’ in the title.
David Harbour Emphasizes The Importance Of Staying True To The Comics
In an interview with Comicbook, David Harbour discussed his experience with the rumours surrounding ‘Thunderbolts*’. He revealed that he has tried to distance himself from these discussions, as he often finds them to be inaccurate and misleading. He emphasized the importance of staying true to the comic book source material.
He revealed that the ‘Thunderbolts*’ team has made a conscious effort to be as accurate as possible. “But we are very comic book true, which I was pleased about. I think there might be some speculation of what people understand about the comics as opposed to people that have actually read the comics,” he explained.
Moreover, Harbour believes that some fans may have misconceptions about the Thunderbolts team based on their limited knowledge of the comics. He encouraged fans to do their research and familiarize themselves with the source material before forming opinions about the film.
According to David, the film also has its own unique spin on the characters and story. “I think that we’re very into that idea, and yet it is, of course, very surprising because, you know, I don’t think Red Guardian is in any of the Thunderbolts stuff. So, they are adding things like they are adding and surprising you with things,” he added.
David Harbour Teases The Significance Of The Asterisk In ‘Thunderbolts*’
David Harbour also teased the significance of the asterisk in the title of the film. In the same interview, he hinted that the asterisk holds a special meaning that fans will eventually discover. “I mean, they retroactively put the asterisk [in],” Harbour explained.
“The asterisk is very cool. I understand why people might put an asterisk there. I’m excited for the viewers to see that as well. But I, again, I just can’t say anymore,” he added. While Harbour couldn’t provide specific details, he emphasized that the asterisk is a deliberate choice.
Additionally, he claimed that it would be a point of interest for viewers. He encouraged fans to pay attention to the title and try to decipher its meaning. However, like all other Marvel actors, David had to hold back from sharing any further details about the mysterious asterisk.
