In a recent interview with That Hashtag Show, Xolo Mariduena was asked about the possibility of playing Nova, and his response made it clear he’s more than ready to take on the challenge. Additionally, the actor already has superhero experience under his belt, playing Jaime Reyes in DC’s Blue Beetle. So, those same qualities could translate well into playing Richard Rider. Moreover, Nova is one of Marvel’s most powerful cosmic characters.
As a member of the Nova Corps, he possesses superhuman strength, speed, agility, and durability, all thanks to the Nova Force. He’s also an expert in hand-to-hand combat, which makes him a formidable fighter even without his cosmic abilities. Though the Nova Corps has been seen in Guardians of the Galaxy, Richard Rider himself has yet to make his MCU debut.
James Gunn On Including Xolo Mariduena’s Blue Beetle In The New DCU
While Xolo Mariduena is open to playing Nova, he hasn’t forgotten about his other superhero role. Blue Beetle was one of DC’s most exciting projects in recent years, and despite the uncertainty surrounding DC’s cinematic universe, James Gunn has confirmed that Jaime Reyes will remain a part of their plans moving forward.
