The writers of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ have revealed an absurd plotline that was ultimately scrapped and for good reason. They wanted a scene featuring Deadpool verbally eviscerating the original Avengers.
Imagine Deadpool, in all his fourth-wall-breaking glory, unleashed on a room full of superheroes. Moreover, it’s a concept that promises pure comedic gold, with Deadpool’s signature blend of vulgarity and wit.

Deadpool Was To Viciously Attack The Avengers In The Scene
During an interview with IndieWire, co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick revealed they envisioned a scenario where the Merc with a Mouth was rejected by the Avengers and proceeded to unleash a barrage of insults on the entire team, from Iron Man to Hawkeye. “Wade was rejected and then he dressed all the Avengers down in a way only Deadpool could do,” writer Paul Wernick claimed.
“He was going to get mad and basically attack each one of them in a vicious kind of way,” Wernick added. Even more absurd, the writers considered Deadpool’s sidekick, Peter, who somehow managed to wield Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir without breaking a sweat.
This scene is intended to poke fun at the Merc who would’ve been struggling to even move Mjolnir. However, Peter comes in and does it with ease. Additionally, this unexpected twist would have added another layer of comedic chaos to the scene.
“I remember pitching that he was going to try to get Captain America to swear,” Paul further added. While the idea of Deadpool verbally sparring with the Avengers is undeniably appealing, the challenges of assembling such a star-studded cast proved to be impossible. Moreover, the ever-serious Avengers going along with Deadpool’s vulgarity and jokes seems a little too bizarre.

Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark Was To Appear In ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ To Reject The Merc From The Avengers
Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark was originally slated to appear alongside Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan in a scene where Deadpool pitches himself for the Avengers. Unfortunately, Downey turned down the offer. The writers claimed that it was the only “no” they had gotten.
However, the reason for his decision becomes clear in hindsight, as it was later announced that Downey would be returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom. While the writers were disappointed at first, Downey’s return as Dr. Doom cleared the air.
The cameo would have been a fan-pleasing moment. However, it would also have felt out of place given the upcoming Doctor Doom role. Despite the setback, the scene with Happy Hogan proved to be a successful replacement.
