Fans of the MCU know to always stick around after the credits for a glimpse of future movies or just goofy post-credits scenes. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘, the epic team-up of the Merc with a Mouth and the X-Man, is no exception to this formulaic approach after the conclusion of the movie.
The movie saw Wade Wilson and Logan joining forces to battle Agent Paradox of the TVA and Cassandra Nova, who wanted to destroy the multiverse. After saving Earth-1005 and returning home, fans were treated to technically two credit scenes. One that paid homage to the past and the other looking forward to the future. Let’s break it down.

Human Torch’s Demise Was Not Deadpool’s Fault
Like other ‘Deadpool‘ movies, the real post-credits scene wasn’t about a future set-up but rather delivering one final joke. It flashed back to when Deadpool, Wolverine and Johnny Storm (played by a returning Chris Evans) were taken prisoner by Cassandra Nova earlier in the film.
At this point, Deadpool had told Cassandra Nova that Storm was insulting her, which led to her gruesomely murdering the Human Torch. Everyone thought Wade made all things up which pissed Cassandra off. But the end credit scene revealed that Deadpool wasn’t just making it up, but instead, it was indeed Johnny who started cursing about Cassandra.
This scene allowed Chris Evans to unleash some R-rated spewing of his own, which his Captain America counterpart wouldn’t have approved of.
The return of Human Torch showed that Marvel won’t be afraid to utilize their new acquisitions going forward. This opens up pathways for the appearance of multiple variants down the line and will keep fans on the edge of their seat during upcoming crossovers such as ‘Avengers 5‘.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Pays Tribute To Marvel Legacy Movies In Credit Scene
The first scene played more along the lines of an extended credit sequence than a traditional one. It showed behind-the-scenes footage from the Fox X-Men films such as the original trilogy, ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and ‘Logan‘. Green Day’s ‘Good Riddance‘ played over it for a sentimental value, which acted as a farewell to the old era.
In addition to that, the scene also featured scenes from multiple Marvel Legacy movies such as 2003’s ‘Daredevil’, ‘Fantastic Four‘ movies and Wesley Snipes’ ‘Blade’ trilogy.
It brought a touching sense of closure for fans who have followed the Marvel superhero movies aside from the MCU. The slow-motion flash of the 20th Century Fox logo at the very end received its flowers from netizens, showing the impact those superhero films had on audiences over the years.
