Doctor Doom is not the type of villain that the Avengers can punch through. In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Victor Von Doom represents a level of threat the MCU has been slowly building toward for years, a villain who combines unmatched intelligence, terrifying magic, and technology that borders on godhood. Doom does not simply overwhelm his foes, but he analyzes them, predicts their actions, and engineers situations where they defeat themselves.
And that is what makes any battle with Doom so interesting. Raw strength alone won’t lead to victory against Doom. Only people who possess the appropriate combination of power, stamina, and flexibility have a chance. Among the cast of the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, there are six characters who are realistically capable of fighting Doctor Doom to the end. Some can oppose him physically. Others can counter his magic or withstand his mind games. However, only one character feels equal to Doom.
6. Magneto

The power of Magneto cannot be denied. He is able to bend metal on a global scale, destroy armies within seconds, and turn cities into weapons. That power would be overwhelming against most villains. Against Doctor Doom, however, it’s complicated. Doom’s armor is not plain metal. It is covered with mystical magic, foreign metals, and countermeasures that are specifically created to withstand control. More to the point, Doom would never put all his trust in just his suit. He would battle Magneto on a mental, tactical, and long-range basis.

The emotional intensity of Magneto has always been his major weakness. His anger, trauma, and narrow-mindedness make him strong, but also predictable. Doom would take advantage of that, and he would manipulate Magneto and push him too far or get him into a scenario where metal manipulation is not enough. Magneto would be able to do great harm and even temporarily defeat Doom. However, in a long battle, the preparation and tactical genius of Doom would probably win. His winning probability remains low to moderate.
5. Namor

The Sub-Mariner, Namor, is another of the most threatening wild cards of Marvel. Being the leader of Talokan, he is a combination of superhuman power, flight, extreme resistance, and years of fighting experience. On the ground, he is already mighty. But in water, he is unstoppable. The greatest strength that Namor has over Doctor Doom is his indomitable will. Namor does not second-guess himself. He does not seek approval like many other heroes. He confronts threats with savage decisiveness, which Doom would admire, but also train against.
The problem is versatility. Doom’s magic and technology provide him with an excessive number of means of controlling the battlefield. He could isolate Namor from water, overwhelm him with mystical attacks, or outmaneuver him strategically. Namor can hurt Doom severely. However, it would be hard to maintain that advantage. Nevertheless, Doom would never underestimate Namor. Kings know kings, and this would be a savage, egoistic confrontation. But his chances of winning still remain moderate.
4. Thor

The God of Thunder, aka Thor Odinson, is not new to apocalyptic battles. He has confronted deities, cosmic beings, and universe-destroying dangers. Thor can unleash enormous lightning with Stormbreaker or Mjolnir that tears armies in pieces and would destroy most creatures. However, gods do not impress Doctor Doom. In the comics, Doom has battled divine beings and won by taking advantage of their overconfidence and use of brute force.
Thor’s tendency to charge headfirst into battle makes him vulnerable to Doom’s traps, magical restraints, and energy-draining technology. With that said, the uncivilized power of Thor cannot be disregarded. Thor, at full charge, would be able to push Doom to the edge and make him resort to defensive measures. One wrong step by Doom would cost him the battle in one destructive blow by Thor. But Doom rarely miscalculates. Still, Thor’s chances of winning remain medium to high.
3. Sue Storm

The Invisible Woman, aka Sue Storm, does not appear to be terrifying on the surface. However, that is what makes her so dangerous. Her force-field powers are the strongest and most accurate in Marvel. Sue is able to create almost impenetrable walls, put enemies in invisible prisons, and exert pressure on them from all directions. Control is more important than spectacle, against Doctor Doom, and Sue is a master of control.
Even his magic and technology might not be able to liberate Sue if she can put Doom in a force field. She does not have to overwhelm him; she has to restrict his choices. The difficulty is in the endurance of the mind. Doom would attack her focus incessantly, with illusions, feigning, and psychological warfare. When Sue’s concentration is lost, Doom is the winner. However, when she stands her ground, Sue Storm may actually be able to counter Doctor Doom. It’s highly possible for her to beat Doom.
2. Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is among the few characters who actually realize how dangerous Doom is. Being a Sorcerer Supreme, Strange has read the same forbidden books, has come across the same dark forces, and has learned the price of having supreme power. A battle between Strange and Doom would be systematic, stratified, and frightening. Spells within spells. Traps disguised as victories. Time loops and dimensional prisons.
Strange is knowledgeable and versatile enough to interfere with Doom’s plan and his magic. However, the fact that Doom is not restrained by morality puts him at an advantage. Where Strange wavers, Doom does not. Where Strange defends reality, Doom is ready to remake it to his own advantage. It is that difference that might win the battle. However, Strange’s winning chance still remains very high.
1. Sentry

Sentry is Doctor Doom’s worst nightmare. With power described as “a million exploding suns,” Sentry can overpower gods, regenerate from near-total destruction, and overwhelm nearly any opponent through sheer force. Doom is powerless when it comes to fighting Sentry, not literally, not face-to-face. The only hope that Doom has is Sentry’s broken mind.

By manipulating the Void or destabilizing Bob Reynolds’ mental state, Doom could turn Sentry into a liability rather than a weapon. However, when Sentry is sane and concentrated, Doom’s preparation becomes irrelevant. There is no planning that can possibly be sufficient to oppose that kind of pure, unchecked power. It is precisely that uncertainty that makes Sentry the top. Manipulation can help Doom to win, but in a fair confrontation, Sentry ends the fight. His probability of winning is also very high, but at the same time, fluctuating.
