“I Was So Ready To Undergo A Huge Transformation”: Emma Corrin Reveals Marvel Shot Down Their One Request For Cassandra Nova In ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’

It looks like Marvel Studios has a different plan in mind for Emma Corrin‘s villainous debut as Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine. In a recent interview, Corrin, known for their nuanced portrayal of Princess Diana in ‘The Crown,’ revealed a surprising tidbit about their preparation for the upcoming superhero film.

Corrin apparently requested a personal trainer to undergo a “huge transformation” for the role. However, the response was not what Corrin expected.

Emma Corrin Was A Physical Transformation For Her Role As Cassandra Nova

After asking for a personal trainer to prepare for her role Corrin was met with a resounding no. “This is funny because I did ask if I could have a personal trainer and they said no. They said I don’t have to undergo any physical training. I was so ready to undergo a huge transformation but they were like, ‘That’s absolutely not required of you. Please stand down.’ I tried,” Corrin shared while talking to EW.

Additionally, Corrin’s disappointment at not getting to bulk up is understandable. Actors often relish the physical transformation that comes with superhero roles. However, Marvel’s decision is an interesting one. It suggests confidence in Emma’s ability to embody the character’s menace without relying solely on physical presence.

Moreover, this could be a great opportunity for her to showcase their acting chops in a completely different light. So, the question arises why does Erin not need training? Unlike some supervillains, Cassandra Nova‘s true power lies in her mind, not her muscles. Marvel seems to be focusing on Corrin’s brilliant acting to portray the telepathic terror.

This could be a refreshing twist, offering a psychological battle instead of a brawny brawl. So, while Emma might not be getting ripped, their performance as the mind-bending Cassandra Nova promises to be unforgettable.

Why Did Marvel Deny Emma Corrin A Physical Transformation?

Corrin is set to portray Cassandra Nova, the telepathic mutant villain and twin sister of Professor X. Traditionally depicted as a powerful telepath who can manipulate minds and even project illusions, Nova’s physicality isn’t necessarily the main threat. While some comic book adaptations take liberties with character designs, it seems Marvel Studios is focusing on Corrin bringing Cassandra’s mental prowess to the forefront.

This news raises a few intriguing questions. Could this be a hint at the direction the film is taking? Perhaps the focus will be on a more psychological battle between Deadpool, Wolverine, and Cassandra Nova, with mutant mind games taking center stage. This approach could be a refreshing change of pace from the action-heavy superhero flicks we’re used to.

Let’s not forget, that Deadpool is known for breaking the fourth wall and subverting expectations. So, while Corrin might not be hitting the gym quite as hard as they anticipated, their portrayal of Cassandra Nova in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is shaping up to be something unexpected. And in the world of Deadpool, the unexpected is often the best kind of surprise.
