With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ preparing to bring together the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the X-Men, one conspicuous omission was immediately observed by fans: Storm. Halle Berry’s iconic mutant, who was one of the pillars of the original X-Men trilogy of Fox, will not be featured in the next MCU crossover, at least not officially.
However, her latest remarks indicate that this could be a hiatus rather than a goodbye.
Halle Berry Isn’t Saying Goodbye To Storm Just Yet

While promoting ‘Crime 101’, Berry looked back fondly at her days as Ororo Munroe and the X-Men movies. Storm, she explained, still means a lot to her not only as a role, but as a symbol. She talked about the importance of playing a character that was strong and resilient, and how proud she was of her. Then came the line that set speculation buzzing: although she won’t be in Doomsday “this round,” Berry teased that “there are other rounds.”

“I think the whole world of the X-Men is about being mutants and outcasts. And there’ve been movies that I’ve been proud to have my children watch. They have so much to say that I thought has been really important, especially for my children as they’ve grown. So they’re beloved,” she elaborated. The wording used by Berry was cautious. However, longtime MCU fans are well aware that cautious wording is used to conceal larger surprises.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to continue photography this spring. So, there is no reason to rule out Storm being withheld as a late-game surprise. It is a well-known fact that Marvel actors are trained in the art of misdirection, and Berry is not the first to publicly deny her participation only to appear when the audience least expects it. While Storm may actually not be a part of ‘Doomsday’, it does not imply that Marvel has neglected her.
‘Secret Wars’ Could Be Storm’s Real Moment

The more intriguing possibility lies beyond ‘Doomsday’. The giant Phase 6 finale, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, starts shooting later this year, and the cast is mostly a secret.
Since the story is multiversal, it is arguably a more appropriate place to have a character as strong and popular as Storm. Berry herself clarified that she would be back in a heartbeat, which is a lot.

No hesitation, no imaginative exhaustion, it is just timing and opportunity. Storm has never been a one-movie character. Berry hints that her relationship with Marvel is not over yet, whether she comes in with a surprise cameo, a twist in the multiverse, or a full-fledged return in ‘Secret Wars’. Sometimes, the storm doesn’t strike right away; it gathers strength first.
