Deadpool Meeting The Greatest Showman Might Be A Match Made in Heaven
In an interview with GamesRadar, Hugh Jackman floated a truly outrageous idea for a future project: a musical pairing Deadpool with P.T. Barnum, the flamboyant showman he portrayed in ‘The Greatest Showman‘. “Can you imagine the chaos?” Jackman chuckled during the interview. “Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking humor alongside Barnum’s larger-than-life personality? It’d be a recipe for pure mayhem but in the best way possible.”
Additionally, Hugh and Ryan teaming up have proved to be appealing ever since ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’. So, Hugh as P.T. Barnum instead of Wolverine shouldn’t affect their chemistry. At first glance, Deadpool and P.T. Barnum seem like an odd couple. Wade Wilson, the wisecracking, violence-prone mercenary, and Phineas Taylor Barnum, the entrepreneur who celebrated the “oddities” of society. However, beneath the surface, there are surprising parallels.
Both Deadpool and Barnum are outsiders, reveling in what makes them different. Deadpool thrives on breaking the rules, while Barnum built his empire by showcasing those who society deemed “other.” Additionally, a musical exploring these themes, with Deadpool’s signature fourth-wall-breaking humor peppered throughout, could be hilarious.

Can ‘DeadBarnum’ Become A Reality?
Jackman readily admits that this project is a long shot. “It’s a crazy idea, I know,” he concedes. “But sometimes, the craziest ideas are the ones that work the best.” Several hurdles stand in the way. Additionally, securing the rights to use P.T. Barnum’s character could be tricky, and the tonal shift from the R-rated ‘Deadpool’ universe to a full-blown musical would be significant.
However, the potential rewards are undeniable. In the right hands, ‘DeadBarnum’ could be a genre-bending masterpiece, a hilarious and heartfelt exploration of what it means to be different. Additionally, Ryan Reynolds himself spoke on the possibility of the musical while talking to Deadline. “I don’t know. I would have trouble singing as I’m gargling his blood [laughs]. No, we’ll see,” he jokingly pointed out.
