Andrew Garfield Reveals Tobey Maguire Was His Inspiration
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Andrew Garfield admitted that Tobey Maguire was his favorite Spider-Man growing up. “Tobey was my guy,” he stated. He recalled watching Maguire’s films as a young actor and being inspired by his portrayal of the iconic superhero.

“I was in drama school and I was watching his films as a young impressionable actor and I was like practicing being him,” he added. Maguire’s performance had a profound impact on Garfield and in some ways shaped his own approach to the character.
While Garfield expressed his admiration for Maguire, he also acknowledged the incredible work done by Tom Holland in the MCU. “But I love, I think what Tom has done is incredible as well. Like, I kind of love them both equally,” he clarified.
Garfield praised Holland’s performance and highlighted his unique take on the character and his ability to connect with audiences. Ultimately, while Garfield couldn’t choose between Maguire and Holland, a lot of fans chose him over the others. However, he made his love and respect for both actors and their respective portrayals of Spider-Man pretty clear.
Andrew Garfield Hints At Return As Spider-Man In Upcoming Films
Andrew Garfield also hinted at a possible return to the Spider-Man franchise, fueling speculation about his involvement in upcoming Marvel Studios projects. In an interview, Garfield expressed his openness to reprising the role of Peter Parker.

However, he would do so only if the project was meaningful and added something new to the character’s story. “For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into,” the actor stated.
His comments have led to rumors that he could appear in both ‘Spider-Man 4’ and the upcoming Avengers films, ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’. Moreover, this would reunite him with Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland, creating another epic crossover event for fans.
