“I Was Shocked”: Charlie Cox Reveals Kevin Feige Ghosted Him For 2 Years After A Call Asking To Reprise His ‘Daredevil’ Role

In a recent interview, actor Charlie Cox revealed that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had contacted him about potentially returning as Daredevil in 2020, two years before the production announced ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘. However, the actor did not hear back about the offer for a long time after.

Cox said that the initial call from Feige in 2020 gave him hope that Daredevil may return, but it took another two years before Marvel made any further announcements. Here’s everything the actor revealed about their conversation.

In an interview with Variety, Charlie Cox revealed that the initial call from Kevin Feige about reprising his role as Daredevil got him excited at the possibility of a return. “We stopped shooting the original show at the end of 2016, beginning of 2018 and found out it was canceled somewhere in that period,” Cox said.

And then it wasn’t until midway through 2020 that we got a phone call from Kevin saying that they were interested in bringing the characters back. And I was shocked,” Cox added.

He just said, ‘We’ve got some ideas for where we may take the characters and we’ll be in touch,” the actor said, adding that he never heard anything else for over two years after that.

The long wait between the initial call from Kevin Feige and any further updates made Charlie Cox believe the role was truly behind him. “I’d moved on and occasionally Vincent and I would chat and he would say things like, ‘Oh, they’re going to call. I think they’re going to us, but they’re going to call us,” Cox said.

And I would get off the phone and be like, ‘The guy’s delusional! He’s got to let it go. It’s going to be 10 years and he’s still going to be hanging on to this. It’s over,” the actor added.

Cox was ultimately proven wrong when Marvel finally announced ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ in 2022 along with Cox’s return. He will reprise his role as Daredevil alongside fellow returning cast members Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson.

Daredevil: Born Again‘ is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
