In an interview with Variety, Ford admitted that he knew he had to set aside his instincts and trust the filmmakers’ vision. “What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before” Ford joked.

But he quickly added to clarify that he enjoyed the motion capture work as well. “I don’t mean to disparage it. I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it” said Ford, which certainly shows that he embraced stepping out of his comfort zone for the story of the movie.

I’m delighted to be able to stand on his shoulders and continue playing the character“. Ford saw the significance of carrying on Hurt’s work in the MCU. He hoped to honor the legacy of the character while putting his own spin on it as the new incarnation of the Red Hulk.
