The return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘ has reignited nostalgia for the original X-Men films, and no one feels it more deeply than James Marsden. Known for his portrayal of Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, Marsden was a central figure in the early 2000s superhero boom.
In a way, the early 2000s paved the way for today’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Reflecting on Jackman’s comeback, Marsden expressed joy and pride in being part of the groundbreaking Fox-Marvel era.

“I loved seeing Hugh back in that classic Wolverine costume, it was such a thrill,” Marsden said. “The entire experience of being part of the X-Men films is something I cherish. It was a special moment in my career, and I always look back on it with a lot of affection. Those movies weren’t just fun; they were pioneering in their own way.“
Marsden’s reflections underscore the significance of the original X-Men trilogy, which helped establish superhero movies as a viable genre. At a time when Hollywood was hesitant to embrace comic book adaptations, the Fox-Marvel films demonstrated their potential.
Moreover, this then set the stage for the MCU’s dominance. Though Marsden didn’t confirm any plans to return as Cyclops in the MCU, he left the door open, suggesting he’d welcome the chance if it arose. For fans, the possibility of seeing him reunite with Jackman is very exciting.

Speaking during Variety’s Actors on Actors segment, Reynolds shared his perspective on Deadpool’s future. “Deadpool thrives when he’s not the center of attention,” Reynolds explained. “I don’t think I could make him the underdog again for a fourth time. Instead, I see him popping up in other characters’ stories, he’s perfect for that kind of dynamic.“
Reynolds acknowledged that the six-year gap between ‘Deadpool 2’ and ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ added to the appeal, creating anticipation and excitement among fans. However, he also admitted that the intense commitment required to bring Deadpool to life often takes him away from his family.
“I love playing Deadpool, but it’s an all-consuming process. With four kids at home, I don’t want to miss out on important moments in their lives,” he stated. Additionally, while a Deadpool 4 might not be on the horizon, the actor confirmed that he would be up for being a supporting character in Channing Tatum’s solo Gambit film if that were to happen.
