Josh Brolin Declines The Iconic Role Of Green Lantern In Upcoming Film ‘Lanterns’

DC Studios is currently searching for a new actor to take on the iconic role of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, in the upcoming series ‘Lanterns’. According to THR, the studio has confirmed that Josh Brolin has declined the role.

Moreover, the actor is well known for his roles as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’. So, fans were both shocked and disappointed at the news. Here’s why he made the drastic decision.

Why Did Josh Brolin Pass On The Role Of Green Lantern?

Josh Brolin’s decision to pass on the Green Lantern role came as a surprise to many fans, who were excited about the prospect of seeing him in the iconic superhero suit. The actor had previously expressed interest in the role and his connection to the DC Universe. Moreover, his work with James Gunn on the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy films made him a natural fit.

While the reasons for Brolin’s decision remain unclear, it is possible that scheduling conflicts or creative differences played a role. The actor is a busy man with a number of projects in the works. With Brolin out of the running, DC Studios is now on the hunt for a new actor to take on the role of Hal Jordan. Several A-list actors have been rumored to be in contention. However, it remains unclear who will ultimately land the coveted part.

Previously, Ryan Reynolds took on the role of Hal. The movie however was not as popular among fans. So, ‘Lanterns’ is looked upon as an opportunity for redemption.

Lanterns’ has garnered significant attention due to its impressive creative team. Chris Mundy, the showrunner of the acclaimed series ‘Ozark, will be helming the project. He will be joined by Damon Lindelof, the acclaimed writer behind ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Lost’.

While the director’s name has not been confirmed yet, the studio is reportedly actively searching. Nathan Fillion, who previously portrayed Guy Gardner in ‘Smallville’ has been hinted at for a potential return in the new show.

Fans were also eager to see Josh Brolin take on the role of Hal Jordan. However, Brolin declined the offer, leaving the door open for a new actor to step into the role. Moreover, the studio is reportedly looking for a young, fresh-faced actor to play the role of John Stewart.
