Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will explore more R-rated projects, following the highly anticipated ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘ film.
Feige shared his thoughts on the matter at the premiere of the movie while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, he also emphasized the importance of appropriateness and only making the film R-rated when needed.
Kevin Feige Weighs In On The Future Of R-Rated Marvel Movies
When asked about whether there would be other R-rated movies after Deadpool, Feige stated “When its appropriate, sure.” Additionally, He cited Deadpool as a prime example, where an R-rating was not only fitting but necessary to stay true to the character’s tone and humor.
“It would have been inappropriate if it wouldn’t have been rated R,” he added. This sentiment is popularly echoed among fans and critics, who praise the film’s bold and unapologetic approach. When asked about potentially applying the same R-rated approach to other Marvel characters, Feige claimed that it was very much possible.
“If we encounter a character like that, there’s a few we can think of where that’s in the DNA of the character, then we’ll do that,” he claimed. While Feige’s statements don’t guarantee a wave of R-rated Marvel movies, they do offer a glimpse into what is there to come in the future.

And bring the team of Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman together to make what people I hope are gonna love,” Feige added. His statement hints that Reynolds’ passion was the key to bringing the forces that were needed to come together.
Additionally, Feige further expressed his hope that audiences will love the final product. The upcoming ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ promise to deliver the same humor that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
