Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who stars as the anti-hero in ‘Kraven the Hunter’, is fueling fan speculation about the character’s future in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. In a recent interview, Taylor-Johnson revealed his hopes for Kraven to cross paths with some of Marvel’s iconic superheroes.
This included the beloved webslinger, Spider-Man. So, the question now lies with Sony, will they take the leap and bring Spider-Man back into the fold? Or will they continue to focus on their villain-centric narratives?
Aaron Taylor-Johnson Believes Introducing Superheroes Like Spider-Man Could Elevate The Franchise
Kraven, a complex character with a dark backstory, has long been a fan-favorite villain in Marvel comics and has often clashed with Spider-Man. Moreover, Taylor-Johnson expressed excitement about exploring Kraven’s potential as a formidable antagonist.

“I think he should go toe-to-toe with some superheroes that we know,” he told ScreenRant. Drawing inspiration from the legendary storyline Kraven’s Last Hunt, Taylor-Johnson hinted that the film delves deep into Kraven’s psyche.
Additionally, he teased that the film will portray his journey from a hunter to a full-fledged villain. While Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has focused heavily on its villains, Venom, Morbius, and now Kraven, the absence of Spider-Man has been noticed. Taylor-Johnson believes introducing the web-slinger could elevate the franchise to new heights.
It could also give Kraven the opportunity to unleash his full potential. “We’ve created a really rich character. He has the legs to go on and do more damage,” Taylor-Johnson added. With Sony’s cinematic universe shrinking following ‘Venom: The Last Dance‘, adding Spider-Man could maybe reignite the franchise.
Tom Hardy Teased A Venom Vs. Spider-Man Showdown
Aaron Taylor-Johnson isn’t the only star in Sony’s universe advocating for Spider-Man’s inclusion. Tom Hardy, who plays Venom, has consistently voiced his desire for a showdown with the beloved hero. At a New York Comic Con event, Hardy doubled down on this idea, saying he’s ready to battle Spider-Man “today.”

“I would love to fight Spider-Man. I would love to fight him now,” Hardy said. “We were specifically set up to bring Venom to a movie format, and that’s what we’ve done. ‘The Last Dance’ is the final piece in that trilogy, but I’d never say never to more adventures, especially with Spider-Man.”
Hardy’s Venom trilogy has been a cornerstone of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. However, fans have criticized the lack of a Spider-Man connection, as Venom’s origin is deeply tied to the web-slinger in the comics. Additionally, Hardy’s passion for a Spider-Man crossover resonates with audiences.
Moreover, both Taylor-Johnson and Hardy’s comments point to a growing demand for Spider-Man’s return to Sony’s universe. While Tom Holland’s Spider-Man remains firmly rooted in the MCY, the multiverse concept introduced in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ opens up possibilities for crossover events.
