Marvel Has Grand Plans For Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Beyond ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

Robert Downey Jr., the iconic face of Tony Stark, is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, not as the hero fans remember. In a move that has sparked intense debate, Marvel Studios has cast Downey as Victor Von Doom.

The buzz surrounding Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom has already divided Marvel fans. Now, insider MyTimeToShine reports that EDJ’s doom will stick around even after the events of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. While some applaud the boldness of bringing one of the MCU’s most bankable stars back in such an unconventional way, others worry that his turn as Doom will overshadow the ‘Fantastic Four’

Moreover, they believe it might also tarnish Iron Man’s legacy. Additionally, this decision came amid turbulent times for Marvel. With Jonathan Majors leaving the MCU after legal issues and off-screen controversies, Marvel Studios was forced to pivot. So, Robert Downey Jr. was probably cast to save the day. However, is this move brilliant, or does it risk alienating fans still mourning the loss of Iron Man?

Rumors suggest Downey will make his first appearance as Doom in a post-credits scene for ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’. This will further set the stage for his central role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Additionally, some speculate that Marvel might explore Doom’s storyline as the “Infamous Iron Man,” a period in the comics where Doom takes on Stark’s mantle after Secret Wars.

Doctor Strange Will Not Be A Part Of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
