Marvel fans have long speculated about how the street-level world of Daredevil and the universe of Spider-Man might evolve together, especially after Matt Murdock’s memorable cameo in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.
Now, Marvel Studios producer Brad Winderbaum has finally confirmed what many hoped: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2 and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will be connected in meaningful ways, even if they tell different types of stories.
Kingpin’s New York Could Shape Spider-Man’s Next Chapter

Both the Disney+ series and the new Spider-Man film are slated for 2026, and with their shared New York backdrop and overlapping characters like the Punisher, Marvel is ensuring cohesion in both tone and narrative impact. However, this connection comes with an interesting twist. But despite the crossover influences, it’s increasingly likely that Charlie Cox won’t appear in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ at all.

When speaking with Entertainment Weekly during New York Comic Con, Brad Winderbaum made it clear that internal collaboration between the Daredevil and Spider-Man teams is already underway. And his comments weren’t vague. He emphasized that choices made in one story will directly ripple through the other. “We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there’s coherence there… Everything lines up and the impacts are felt, but we’re able to tell different stories.”
The biggest narrative thread tying the two together is Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio. At the end of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 1, Fisk gains significant control over New York City and launches a campaign against masked vigilantes. With ‘Born Again’ season 2 arriving before ‘Brand New Day‘, the fallout from Kingpin’s actions would logically shape Peter Parker’s new life. After ‘No Way Home’, Peter is anonymous again, stripped of his old identity, resources, and allies.
So, operating as a low-profile neighborhood hero in a city hostile to vigilantes is going to be difficult. And there’s already one major bridge between the two titles: Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. The Punisher plays a vital part in ‘Born Again’ season 1 and is confirmed to appear in ‘Brand New Day’. His presence alone suggests that Peter won’t be entirely isolated from the darker corners of Marvel’s New York.
Daredevil Himself Will Be Missing From ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

One of the biggest questions lingering since ‘No Way Home’ has been whether Peter and Matt would reunite onscreen. Fans loved their brief but clever meeting, and many assumed ‘Brand New Day’ would naturally bring Daredevil back into the fold. However, a recent rumor has thrown cold water on that hope. Well-known industry scooper MyTimeToShineH posted on X, “There you have it. No Daredevil in Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” responding to another post explaining that Charlie Cox is in production for ‘This Is How It Goes.’

Marvel hasn’t officially commented, but the timing lines up, and nothing in Winderbaum’s statements implies a physical cameo from Daredevil, only narrative alignment. Still, that doesn’t minimize Matt Murdock’s influence. Even if he doesn’t appear, his world is undeniably shaping Peter’s. With Kingpin on the rise and vigilantes under fire, Spider-Man may be navigating a New York still recovering from Daredevil’s battles.
Meanwhile, production on ‘Brand New Day‘ recently paused after Tom Holland suffered a minor head injury. However, filming is back underway. Moreover, Holland has spoken passionately about the new direction. He described it as a fresh beginning. “It really feels like we aren’t making the fourth movie. We’re making the first movie in the chapter… This is a rebirth. This is something completely new.”
