Ever since the release of 2021’s ‘Eternals‘, Marvel fans have been puzzled by one particular plot hole that has gone unaddressed. The post-credits scene revealed a massive Celestial, named Tiamat, rising out of the ocean near the Azores islands.
However, the celestial corpse was never mentioned or explored further in the following Marvel projects. This prompted online jokes and memes about Marvel seemingly forgetting about the giant creature in the ocean. However, the first teaser for ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘ has finally put an end to this long-running gag.

Explaining The Return Of Tiamat
The viewers are given a glimpse of an enormous skeletal structure partially submerged in the ocean in the teaser. Upon closer inspection, fans recognized the body as Tiamat. This confirms the Celestial is indeed still located where it emerged at the end of ‘Eternals‘. While the ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘ teaser does not provide any context, it seems Tiamat will play some role in the events of the film.
Perhaps government officials like Thaddeus Ross are investigating the creature. Or it could be attracting the attention of villains like the Leader. In any case, Marvel fans can take solace in knowing their jokes about Tiamat have been put to rest. After over three years, the studio is finally circling back to address this lingering plot thread.

Reintroduction of characters such as Joaquin Torres (New Falcon) and Isaiah Bradley from ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘. Government agent Giancarlo Esposito’s mysterious new character was also spotted wielding a rifle.
More excitingly, the film appears set to adapt Thaddeus Ross as the villainous Red Hulk. His brief appearance in the end hints the character will undergo a transformation similar to Bruce Banner. After so long waiting, it seems ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘ could be sparking the comeback of the MCU along with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘.
‘Captain America: Brave New World‘ hits theatres worldwide on February 14, 2025.
