‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is already becoming one of the most ambitious crossovers in the history of Marvel. With heroes from the Avengers, Wakanda, the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and the long-awaited return of Fox’s original X-Men, the film promises scale, nostalgia, and multiversal chaos in equal measure.
And yet, in all that commotion, there is a conspicuous silence: Kamala Khan. Ms. Marvel is not necessarily a heavy-hitter next to legacy Avengers or iconic mutants. However, with the MCU mutant tease in place, it would be a missed emotional and narrative opportunity, not just for fans, but for the overall mutant narrative.
Ms. Marvel Deserves A Place In Marvel’s Biggest Mutant Moment

It was not just a lore adjustment when Ms. Marvel announced that Kamala Khan was a mutant, not an Inhuman. The short scene, interrupted by the recognizable theme of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’, was the first official recognition of mutants in the MCU timeline. It was hinting, thrilling, and promising. Kamala is the first homegrown mutant in the MCU. She is young, energetic, and still trying to understand her powers and identity.

That makes her the perfect audience surrogate for meeting the X-Men for the first time. Think of Kamala and her interactions with Cyclops or Storm, full of questions and with wide eyes. Such interaction would not be fun fan service but would give heart. More to the point, her presence might make the X-Men emotionally grounded in their reappearance. Most of the returning mutants have decades of cinematic baggage, but Ms. Marvel is a fresh view.
Old conflicts and timelines do not weigh her down. She is inquisitive, optimistic, and wants to fit in. This perfectly aligns with Marvel’s efforts to reintroduce mutants to the new generation. Leaving her out risks making the mutant reveal feel like a dangling thread rather than the foundation of something bigger.
Kamala Khan Should Be In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Not On The Sidelines

With that said, Marvel has a history of being coy with cast announcements. The notorious ‘Doomsday’ chair reveal did not feature all the returning characters. Moreover, recent surprises have shown that not being mentioned does not necessarily mean being excluded. Chris Evans’ return is a strong reminder that Marvel still likes to keep secrets under wraps. Cautious optimism is also warranted.

Director Nia DaCosta, who collaborated with Iman Vellani on ‘The Marvels’, recently said that she visited the ‘Doomsday‘ set and spotted friends who worked on the film. Although it is ambiguous, the remark opens the possibility of unexpected appearances, be it Kamala, Carol Danvers, or Monica Rambeau.
Even the slightest look would count. The MCU is at its finest based on emotional continuity. Ms. Marvel meeting the X-Men wouldn’t just be cool; it would feel right. And if ‘Doomsday’ is indeed meant to bring the past, present, and future of Marvel together, leaving Kamala Khan behind would be a strangely human-sized hole in a very super-powered story.
