The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is gearing up for it next big two-part saga with the new addition of ‘Avengers‘ set to conclude phase 6 of the franchise. However, it seems two major blockbuster event films may not keep its original title as previously announced.
Sources close to the studio reportedly confirmed that Marvel is considering following the Kang Dynasty’s path to change the second movies name as well. While plans can always evolve in development, such a title tweak would qualify as a major change. Here’s what we know about the potential changes to the film’s title.

Why Did ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ Change Its Title?
The title change for ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘ comes following controversies surrounding the movie’s lead antagonist, Jonathan Majors. Majors, who plays the time-traveling villain Kang The Conqueror, was arrested last year. While a case against him was still ongoing, rumors emerged that Marvel was already considering shifting away from prominently featuring Kang. This was before the actor was arrested.
Majors’ trial resulted in a guilty verdict earlier this year for domestic assaulting. After that, Marvel swiftly cut ties with the actor. With Majors no longer part of the MCU moving forward, it made the previous title redundant.
Moreover, the box-office performance of Knag in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania‘ further added to it. Between Majors’ legal issues and doubts about the character’s popularity, Marvel opted for a title change that removed the focus on Kang as the overriding threat of their upcoming Avengers two-parter.

‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Title Is Also Likely To Change
While rumors are buzzing around regarding ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘ and its title change, it is still not concrete yet. With two movies adapting such a massive comic event, creative changes seem inevitable. Some replacements that have been thrown include ‘Avengers: Battleworld‘ and ‘Avengers: Incursions‘, which is focused on the concept of colliding universes.
Ultimately, whether the title changes or not, all signs point to major development shifts before production begins for the MCU’s new phase-concluding blockbusters.
Fans can only hope that in changing aspects like titles, Marvel still delivers quality to conclude their multiverse saga and kick-start Phase 7. However the project reforms, it is clear that the Avenger’s duology coming up will certainly change the course of MCU for the upcoming phases.
