Michael B. Jordan made a powerful return to the MCU in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, reprising his role as Erik Killmonger in a surprising yet deeply symbolic scene. Even though Killmonger met his end in ‘Black Panther’, the character made an unexpected appearance in the Ancestral Plane.
Despite his complex relationship with T’Challa, he in his own intense way offered guidance to Letitia Wright’s Shuri. Now, the actor has opened up about his experience filming the sequel. He revealed that he didn’t even read the full script before stepping onto the set.
Watching ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Was A New Experience For Michael B. Jordan

In an interview with GQ, Michael B. Jordan explained that when he returned to shoot his scene for ‘Wakanda Forever‘, he was also preparing to direct ‘Creed III‘. The timing meant that he wasn’t as deeply involved in the film’s production as he was for the first Black Panther.
However, he made it clear that his connection to the project remained just as strong. “Coming back to do Black Panther 2 after the tragedy of losing Chadwick was an extremely tough one. At the time, I didn’t even read the whole script, so I didn’t know what the whole movie was about,” Jordan shared.
Jordan admitted that Ryan Coogler, whom he considers a close friend and collaborator, didn’t let him read the entire script. Instead, the director only revealed what Jordan needed to know for his scene, keeping the rest of the film’s surprises intact. While some actors might find this approach frustrating, Jordan embraced it. In fact, he was just as excited as any other fan when he finally got to see the film.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’: A Tribute To Chadwick Boseman

Beyond the secrecy surrounding the script, Michael B. Jordan’s experience on set was shaped by the overwhelming sense of unity among the cast and crew. Following Chadwick Boseman’s tragic passing in 2020, the Black Panther team faced a difficult task. “It meant a lot to the cast,” Jordan said.

“The short time I was there, and obviously, you know, the cast is extremely tight, and we all speak, it felt like we were all doing it for Chadwick. We did that movie for him,” the actor shared. Moreover, this sentiment echoed throughout the entire film. The emotional opening sequence that honored T’Challa’s legacy to the ending that introduced his son Boseman’s presence was felt in every frame.
Now, with ‘Black Panther 3’ officially in development, fans are wondering if Jordan could return once again. Moreover, the multiversal elements going on in the MCU make it very much possible for him to return. Additionally, given his strong relationship with Coogler and his love for the franchise, it’s not out of the question.
