For years, fans of Marvel’s Netflix era have wondered whether its heroes would ever return to the spotlight. Mike Colter has now thrown fuel on that debate by indicating that it might be time to bring back Luke Cage.
The character was last seen on screen in 2019 in the events of Jessica Jones, after his solo series was canceled. Marvel Studios has been largely silent on the future of the hero since that time.
Mike Colter Believes The Time Feels Right For Luke Cage To Return

Mike Colter recently shared his thoughts during an appearance on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, where he spoke candidly about the possibility of returning to the role. The actor says that he thinks a comeback is a possibility, although it may not be known when.

“I do think now it’s time,” Colter explained, pointing to the renewed attention Marvel has given to its street-level heroes in recent projects. The recent actions of Marvel indicate that the studio is gradually revisiting old characters. A prime example is ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, where Charlie Cox reappears as Matt Murdock years later, out of the limelight.
That renaissance has led to the speculation that other Netflix-era heroes may come. In the original crossover miniseries ‘The Defenders’, Luke Cage was fighting with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. The reunion of those characters is what many fans have been longing to see since the shows were discontinued.
Colter himself appears to be optimistic. Although he has not officially confirmed anything, he revealed that he has been talking to Marvel. That hint is enough to get the longtime viewers excited who have been following Luke Cage’s journey. After all, the hero with unbreakable skin still has plenty of unfinished stories.
Could Luke Cage Appear in Daredevil’s World Again?

The biggest question of a possible return is where Luke Cage will appear first. Considering the down-to-earth, street-level nature of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, it would be reasonable to have Cage feature in that show, possibly as a cameo or a supporting character in a later season. To further fuel the rumor, it has been reported that Colter was recently seen in New York, where a lot of the Marvel street-level action occurs.

Although that does not prove anything, it has at least drawn the attention of fans. In the meantime, the character is still active in other media. In 2026, a new book, Truth to Power: A Luke Cage Marvel Crime, will be released. This demonstrates that Marvel still finds the story of the hero worthwhile. For Colter, the message seems simple: Luke Cage isn’t finished yet.
