With the Netflix Marvel era seemingly experiencing a revival, ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ has reignited speculation and fan theories about who else might return to the MCU. With Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones joining the show’s second season, Mike Colter has now shared his thoughts on bringing his character, Luke Cage, back into the fold.
Colter first appeared as Luke Cage in Season 1 of ‘Jessica Jones‘ before headlining his own series, ‘Luke Cage,’ which ran for two seasons before being canceled. In a recent interview, the actor addressed the possibility of returning, and his pitch is as dark as it is optimistic.
Mike Colter Feels It Would Be A Shame Not To Bring Luke Cage Back

Colter revealed that he has had discussions with Marvel about the future of these street-level heroes. With Jessica Jones making a comeback, he believes there is still plenty of scope for their tales. “I have been talking to Marvel, and Jessica’s back, and there’s a lot of story left to tell. I just think that it’d be a shame for me not to pop back up,” Colter said.

His comments certainly make sense. In Marvel Comics lore, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are one of the longest-running couples and even share a daughter, Dani. Now that Colter’s MCU comeback interest has been confirmed, he has outlined two major requirements for stepping back into the role. And, his pitch could make him Harlem’s Kingpin or maybe its savior.
Mike Colter Wants to Explore Luke Cage’s Power and Control

Colter emphasized that he wants Marvel to fully commit to the character and take his arc seriously. He also has ideas about major story elements: “I definitely would want to see him find out what it’s like to have the power and complete control of the neighborhood and see if he can do the right thing, and at the same time, keep his hands from getting dirty.”

When asked whether he would approach the character differently compared to the Netflix era, Colter acknowledged that past shows faced continuity challenges. This time, he would prefer a smoother, more streamlined narrative.
If Luke Cage does make his long-awaited MCU return, several possibilities are on the table. A Season 3 appearance in ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ could be ideal, though the steel-skinned hero could also resurface in a potential ‘Jessica Jones’ project. And, nothing would make fans happier than a brand-new ‘Luke Cage‘ series.
