Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman recently reunited to discuss their highly anticipated team-up in their new film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘, and Reynolds couldn’t help but reflect on the experience that first brought the pair together over 15 years ago – ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘.
While the film is still a major source of frustration for a lot of fans, Reynolds made it clear in the interview that one positive to come from it was getting to witness Jackman’s dedicated approach to perfecting his craft.
Getting To Know Hugh Jackman On Set Was Big For Ryan Reynolds
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Reynolds shared his first-hand experience of getting to be with Hugh Jackman in 2009. “Hugh was a huge influence on me. It was the first time I saw how a movie star operates on set, and it defied all the preconceived notions for a movie star. He was so warm and welcoming. He made it safe to play. He knew every single person’s name” Reynolds said in the interview.
Though ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘ remains a controversial entry in the X-Men franchise, Reynolds’ comments show how much of an impact working with Jackman had on him.

Hugh Jackman On Suddenly Missing The Role Of Wolverine
After hanging up the claws following 2017’s ‘Logan‘, Jackman said he fully moved on from the character of Wolverine. But as the actor told Reynolds and director Shawn Levy, all it took was one fateful drive down the beach for those feelings to change.
“I didn’t miss it for a long time. And then, literally, it came to me one day as I was driving down to the beach. I knew I wanted to do this. I literally stopped the car, got out and called Ryan“, said Jackman in the interview. Jackman’s very quickly opened the door for Reynolds and him to reunite their characters and bring Deadpool and Wolverine on the big screen at last.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ in theatres worldwide on July 26th.
