Seth Rollins, one of WWE’s biggest stars, has confirmed that his role in the highly anticipated ’Captain America: Brave New World’ will not make the final cut. The wrestler was set to make his MCU debut in the film.
However, now with Rollins’ comments, his debut might be a distant dream. Moreover, whether the reshoots and rewrites will deliver a stronger story or raise more questions is yet to be seen.
Seth Rollins Claims ’Captain America: Brave New World’ Went Through A lot Of Rewrites And Reshoots
While on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Seth Rollins shared his disappointment about getting cut out of ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘. He explained that extensive rewrites and reshoots ultimately led to his character being removed from the film. “I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film,” Rollins said.
“The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots, so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased,” he added. Leaked set photos from May 2023 showed Rollins dressed in a green and gold costume, leading many to speculate that he was playing Cobra, a founding member of the Serpent Squad.
However, Rollins made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect to see him in the movie. “I’m not in the movie. I will say unequivocally I’m not in the film,” he emphasized. “I do not want anybody to go to the film thinking, ‘I’m here to see Seth Rollins.’ There might be two people that would do that, but I don’t want those two people to waste their time.”
Despite the setback, Rollins expressed his admiration for Marvel Studios and their ability to produce quality films. “They’ve got a finished product that hopefully they’re happy with. And hopefully it’s successful, but it will be sans Seth Rollins.” Additionally, he also addressed his budding acting career, noting that while he enjoys new challenges, his heart remains in professional wrestling.
Anthony Mackie Previously Denied Major Reshoots Rumors For ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
While Seth Rollins’ comments shine a light on the film’s behind-the-scenes changes, Anthony Mackie dismissed all rumors suggesting that extensive reshoots. Mackie clarified that reshoots are standard practice for Marvel films and do not necessarily reflect issues with the story.

“It wasn’t retooled at all,” Mackie told Empire Magazine. “Every Marvel movie I’ve done has done reshoots. You basically get the movie and the story you want, you edit it together, then go back and shoot a few more scenes.” Now, with Rollins’ comments, it is clear that major reshoots did happen.
Additionally, insider MyTimeToShineHello contradicted Mackie’s claims, alleging that the reshoots altered major elements of the film. He believed that the film had a lot of changes, including its opening, ending, and even the addition of a new villain and another Hulk. According to the scooper, a character’s death was also changed.
