Andrew Garfield fans have been in a weird state of limbo for years. They were happy that he returned emotionally in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, but also agonizingly conscious that his narrative never had a proper conclusion.
However, with a significant change in Sony’s approach, the third chapter that has been on the shelf for a long time may not be as impossible as it seemed.
Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Story Might Not Be Over After All

Recently, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman has affirmed that the Sony Spider-Man Universe will receive a new reboot with new people. That is a big confession. Following the disproportionate box office receipts of spinoffs such as ‘Morbius’, ‘Madame Web’, and ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, the studio seems to be willing to start anew. And when you think about it, a clean slate is exactly what Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man needs.

Among the most significant criticisms of the villain-centered universe of Sony was the fact that there was no Spider-Man. The SSU never came up with its own Peter Parker despite the branding. Tom Holland kept Spider-Man squarely within the MCU, and Sony films were strangely unbalanced. That’s where Garfield becomes the obvious solution.
Sony does not have to create a brand-new actor, as there is already a popular Spider-Man whose story was not finished. Garfield’s once controversial performance has matured very well. His depiction of a traumatized, self-blaming Peter Parker was even more appreciated following his emotional turn in ‘No Way Home’.
Viewers did not simply get him back; they embraced him. A re-launched SSU would easily fit into the world created by ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. And Garfield would finally be able to lead the trilogy he never had a chance to complete. It wouldn’t feel forced. It would feel earned.
The Reboot Could Give Garfield’s Superhero The Second Chance He Deserves

This also has a strong narrative symmetry. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ brought a more emotionally raw and dark Peter Parker. The follow-up established bigger schemes, the Sinister Six, and more Oscorp intrigues, which never saw the light of day. Sony can now use the chance to turn incomplete business into a redemption story instead of throwing away those threads.

And redemption sells. Garfield’s Spider-Man is not just another version. He’s the one who lost Gwen. The one who admitted he “stopped pulling his punches.” The one who saved MJ and found closure. And the one who saved MJ and found closure. Continuing that emotional trajectory gives ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ something rare in modern franchise filmmaking: authenticity.
