Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is finally swinging back into action after years away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will mark Peter Parker’s long-awaited return to the big screen when it hits theaters on July 31, 2026. The project is shrouded in secrecy. However, with filming now underway, bits of exciting information are beginning to emerge.
Among the film’s biggest talking points are the mysterious new cast additions, including ‘Severance’ star Tramell Tillman and ‘Stranger Things’ breakout Sadie Sink. Tillman recently addressed ongoing speculation about whether he’s playing a villain. At the same time, new set photos have given fans their first look at Sink filming scenes under the direction of Destin Daniel Cretton.
Tramell Tillman Addresses MCU Villain Rumors

In an interview with Variety, Tramell Tillman discussed his ‘Spider-Man 4’s “villainous” role. “Who says I’m playing a villain? Who says that? Where did you get that from?” Tillman replied with a laugh. While his reaction was lighthearted, it was clear he wanted to put an end to the premature speculation. When pressed further about whether his role might be a “complex player,” Tillman smiled and added, “I can’t say too much about it.”

The actor, best known for his gripping performance as Seth Milchick in Apple TV+’s ‘Severance’, concluded by confirming one thing: “I am enjoying my time filming Spider-Man.” Tillman’s comments are classic Marvel secrecy, teasing involvement without confirming much. His casting was first revealed by Variety on August 20, 2025. However, character details remain completely under wraps. Interestingly, ‘Brand New Day’ already includes one confirmed villain: Tombstone, portrayed by Marvin Jones III.
Jones is reprising the role after voicing the character in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’. The live-action debut of Tombstone adds a gritty, street-level threat. It’s a fitting choice considering Peter’s stripped-down status after the world forgot him at the end of ‘No Way Home’. With Tillman, Sadie Sink, and Liza Colón-Zayas all cast in undisclosed roles, it’s possible that the film will weave multiple subplots together.
It might also pit Peter against more than one type of enemy, not all of them necessarily superpowered. Filming on ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ began on August 3, 2025, but production briefly paused after Holland sustained a mild concussion during a stunt sequence on September 21. Thankfully, the actor quickly recovered and has since resumed shooting.
Sadie Sink’s Major Role In ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

One of the most anticipated additions to the Spider-Man universe is Sadie Sink, whose casting was finally confirmed. Known for her emotionally charged performances in ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘The Whale’, Sink’s arrival in the MCU has sparked endless speculation, especially after new ‘Brand New Day’ set photos surfaced online. The images, shared on X by UnBoxPHD, show Sink on set alongside director Destin Daniel Cretton. Dressed in a beige hoodie, the actress looks comfortable yet purposefully concealed.

It seemed like a deliberate choice, given Marvel’s history of disguising characters’ costumes and looks until official reveals. In a Deadline interview earlier this year, Sink stayed coy when asked about her role: “I see a lot of rumors too. They’ve been really cool to read. I love the Marvel Universe. I mean, they’re awesome rumors.” Those “awesome rumors” range from potential love interests for Peter to something much bigger.
One of the most popular theories is that Sink could be portraying Jean Grey, marking the MCU’s first introduction to the X-Men through Spider-Man’s story. While that may sound far-fetched, it’s not impossible. The X-Men reboot is currently in development, and Marvel Studios is known for planting subtle connections across projects. With secrecy surrounding the plot, all signs suggest that ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will be a tonal reset for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. It will be a smaller-scale story that re-centers him after the multiverse chaos of No Way Home.
