The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not done with one of the latest Spider-Man villains. Although ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is already developing a full roster of villains, there is one character that is already known to be carrying on with his narrative outside the movie, and that is a wise decision on Marvel’s part.
Spider-Man has had a remarkable list of villains in the MCU, including Vulture, Green Goblin, and Doctor Octopus. However, ‘Brand New Day’ seems like it is about to add to that list even more, introducing a combination of new faces and long-awaited returns.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Sets Up Scorpion’s Bigger Future In The MCU

A single glance at ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ reveals that Peter Parker is not getting a break anytime soon. The trailer foreshadows several villains, both street-level and more dangerous individuals who work in the shadows. One of them is Scorpion, once again portrayed by Michael Mando, but is now fully outfitted in a comic-accurate design that fans have been waiting years to see.

In his company, there are other characters like Tarantula and Boomerang who contribute to the mess, and the appearance of The Hand suggests a more serious and sinister conspiracy. It is also a mystery as to whether there will be a mysterious role that is believed to be Jean Grey, which implies that the movie might cross the boundary between a hero and an antagonist. It’s a stacked deck, and one that could easily overwhelm Spider-Man if not handled carefully.
Marvel Is Already Extending Scorpion Into Another 2026 Story

The thing is that Scorpion is not only interesting this time because of his new appearance, but also because of his future. The character will also reappear in ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ season 2, which will be released later in 2026, after ‘Brand New Day’ hits theaters. It is at that crossover-style continuity where things get exciting.

Although the animated series is set in an alternate timeline, parallel to the MCU, it is based on familiar elements and provides a variant of the world. During the first season, Scorpion was already depicted as a serious threat. The fact that he is being brought back so soon after his live-action appearance provides the character with momentum. This is something Marvel villains do not always receive.
If Marvel does this correctly, Scorpion has the potential to become one of the most consistent and personalized enemies of Spider-Man in a variety of projects. And frankly, that is what the MCU is in dire need of at the moment: villains that do not disappear after a few lines.
