The guessing game about who is the villain of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been going on for months. From the time of traditional villains, the audience has been speculating about who will be Peter Parker’s next rival.
However, an unexpected hint by another Spider-Man project might have eliminated one of the most popular candidates from the list. One of the shots in ‘Spider-Noir’ seems to hint at the introduction of one particular villain, and that may alter the discussion of who the primary antagonist of the next MCU movie will be.
‘Spider-Noir’ Could Change The Villain Plans For ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

There is a moment in the trailer when one can see a glowing, suit-wearing figure walking down a dark alley. It’s a striking contrast to the black-and-white appearance of the show. Although the shot is fast, a lot of fans instantly related the image to Mr. Negative. Mr. Negative, or Martin Li, is a strong crime boss in the criminal underworld of New York.

The character possesses a distinctive set of abilities that are indicative of his duality. He can use both light and dark energy in a fight. His popularity surged in recent years thanks to appearances in projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man. The world that ‘Spider-Noir’ seems to be constructing would also make sense with the presence of the villain.
The series reportedly focuses heavily on crime syndicates and underground power struggles, which are exactly the kind of stories Mr. Negative fits perfectly. In case the mysterious glowing figure is actually him, it would be the first live-action appearance of the character.
Mr. Negative’s Live-Action Introduction In ‘Brand New Day’ Is Now Unlikely

Mr. Negative was among the most commonly discussed candidates as the head of the villain lineup in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ before the release of the ‘Spider-Noir’ trailer. The theory was reasonable due to a number of reasons. The character is a major part of the comic plot that the film was based on, and the upcoming MCU Spider-Man film is said to be more grounded and street-level.

A crime boss such as Mr. Negative would be a natural fit for that tone. However, when ‘Spider-Noir’ already has its own live-action version of the character, the possibility of him coexisting with the MCU suddenly becomes significantly smaller. It is hard to believe that two big Spider-Man projects released different versions of the same villain in the same period of time.
Studio normally does not want such an overlap, particularly when introducing new characters to the screen. It does not imply that Mr. Negative cannot ever feature in the MCU in the future; it just means that he may not be introduced in ‘Brand New Day’. At this point, the identity of the primary antagonist in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is still unknown. However, with ‘Spider-Noir’s trailer, one of the most plausible theories may already be eliminated.
