Spider-Man is flying into one of his busiest years ever, and this time not only on the big screen. As the fans are waiting impatiently to see Tom Holland’s next chapter on the big screen, another web-slinger is ready to leave his mark on streaming.
Prime Video has now officially announced the release date of ‘Spider-Noir’, confirming that all eight episodes will debut globally on May 27. Before that, the show will receive a domestic linear debut on MGM+ on May 25, which will provide viewers with an early preview of Nicolas Cage in the live-action role.
‘Spider-Noir’ Will Feature A Spider-Man Unlike Any Other

‘Spider-Noir’ does not focus on Peter Parker but rather on Ben Reilly in a darker version of the universe. The series is set in New York of the 1930s, and it is a full-throttle noir, following a down-on-his-luck private investigator who used to be a masked vigilante called The Spider. The official synopsis of Prime Video states that he was driven to put on the mask by a personal tragedy.

However, when a special case comes to his door, he must face his past, and maybe even go back into the shadows he used to be in charge of. The premise itself is an indicator of something much moodier than the sunny, snappy Spider-Man that many viewers are accustomed to. And with Nicolas Cage wearing the trench coat and fedora, the anticipation is high.
Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in ‘Into the Spider-Verse‘, but this live-action adaptation promises a deeper, more grounded exploration of the character. Spider-Verse geniuses Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are executive producing behind the scenes, which only further lends the project credibility, as well as creative intrigue.
A New Era For Spider-Man Begins In 2026

The May release date is a strategic move to position ‘Spider-Noir’ two months before ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which will release in theaters on July 31. To fans, it will show Spider-Man in two radically different tones, one covered in pulpy black-and-white grit, the other in a continuation of the MCU’s developing saga.

The supporting cast is also very strong in the series, with Lamorne Morris playing Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, and Brendan Gleeson playing Silvermane. ‘Spider-Noir‘ has eight episodes to develop its world, which films cannot always do. The success of the show will be determined by the reaction of the audience. However, there is one definite thing: 2026 isn’t just another year for Spider-Man. It’s a reinvention.
