Thanos Might Return To The MCU Sooner Than Expected And Impact ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

Good news for MCU fans as the Mad Titan might be making his way back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe much sooner than we all anticipated. While many assumed Josh Brolin’s return as Thanos would be reserved for the epic multiversal showdown in the upcoming Avengers films.

Now, new rumors suggest he could appear in the MCU even before then. Moreover, could Thanos have a role to play in a project arriving before these massive films?

Rumors of Thanos’ return have been swirling forever. However, a new scoop from industry insider MTTSH claims that the villain will be back “sooner than we think.” Previously, reports claimed that ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ was the assumed destination for his return. So, this new rumor raises new questions. Could Thanos appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, or even before that?

Moreover, Several upcoming projects could provide an opportunity for the Mad Titan’s return. ‘Thunderbolts*’ is slated to hit theaters in 2025, and while it seems like an unlikely place for Thanos to show up nothing is impossible for Marvel. Another possible entry point is ’The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘.

However, the most logical placement outside of ‘Secret Wars‘ would be ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ Many fans believe the film will serve as a massive setup for the multiversal chaos to come. Additionally, if the film includes variant versions of heroes and villains, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Thanos.

The actor behind bringing Thanos to life, Josh Brolin has his own thoughts on the matter. While speaking with Collider last year, he didn’t confirm or deny his return. However, he made it clear that he would consider reprising Thanos under the right conditions, particularly if the Russo brothers were involved.

I’m not kidding. There’s a thing with playing Thanos. It’s like, ‘Oh, they’re gonna bring Thanos back,’ It’s like Sicario; it has to be right. It’s like Ryan Reynolds and I talking about Taylor Swift, and we should be talking about Deadpool 4,” Brolin stated.

However, perhaps the most intriguing moment came when he was asked if Marvel had already contacted him about returning. Instead of answering, he simply coughed. This was enough for fans as they are now sure that the actor is returning.
