Few upcoming blockbusters have generated as much excitement as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Positioned as Marvel Studios’ most ambitious project since ‘Avengers: Endgame’, the movie promises a crossover of unprecedented scale.
It is set to unite heroes from The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and more. With its December 18, 2026, release date locked in, the internet has been buzzing about a rumored trailer, leading many to believe Marvel had already dropped a sneak peek.
Why There’s No Official Trailer For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Yet

The rumors began after Destination D23, Disney’s fan event. Disney teased multiple upcoming projects, and Marvel Studios naturally drew the most attention. Attendees were treated to a short video message from the Russo Brothers (directors of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame‘) and Paul Rudd, followed by a reel featuring familiar clips of Marvel’s biggest heroes.

That reel was quickly misinterpreted online. Leaked descriptions spread like wildfire, with many convinced Marvel had secretly shown the first ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer. However, outlets like The Direct later confirmed the truth: what played at D23 was not a trailer. It was a celebratory montage highlighting Marvel’s cinematic history and teasing the interdimensional scope of the upcoming film. So, no new footage from Doomsday itself was revealed.
When it comes to why Marvel hasn’t dropped a trailer yet, the answer is surprisingly simple: timing and production. Filming for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ only began in April 2025 and is expected to run until at least October. That means most of the footage is still raw and untouched by post-production. So, it’s far too early to showcase anything resembling a polished trailer. Even the Russo Brothers admitted in their video message that this is “the biggest project they’ve ever taken on.”
Marvel is in no rush to show incomplete material. Another layer to consider is Marvel’s release schedule. Before Doomsday hits theaters, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will swing onto screens in July 2026. Marvel is unlikely to overshadow Spidey’s return by releasing a trailer for ‘Doomsday’ too soon. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t get a teaser before ‘Brand New Day’ releases.
Why Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Could Be As Game-Changing As Iron Man

While the lack of a trailer has frustrated fans, one thing has kept the excitement alive: Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as Victor von Doom. Marvel pulled off one of the boldest moves in cinematic history by reintroducing Downey as Doctor Doom. Downey’s Doom first appeared in shadowy form during ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ mid-credits scene. Now, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to give him the full spotlight.

Additionally, according to insiders, Doom will be the film’s true central figure, much like Thanos was in ‘Infinity War’. And the hype is not just fan-driven. Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu recently spoke to The River about working alongside Downey in Doomsday. “He’s been an integral part of Marvel’s success and has been in so many films over the years, yet he still takes the time to meet and connect with so many people. Because he’s played such a diverse range of roles, I think everyone will be blown away by the way he tackles this new character in this film.”
Liu’s words echo what fans have been hoping: that Downey’s Doom will be every bit as game-changing as his Iron Man. It’s a poetic twist of fate. The man who started the MCU is now stepping into the shoes of its next great villain. That emotional weight is what sets ‘Doomsday’ apart from other Marvel blockbusters. So, even without a trailer, that storyline alone has been enough to keep audiences talking nonstop.
