Four years after ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ was released in theaters, a curious what-could-have-been has finally become clear, and, frankly, it could have been one of the most memorable parts of the movie.
Lena Headey, who gained fame as a commanding presence in ‘Game of Thrones’, has shared her deleted part, and it sounds very on-brand for director Taika Waititi.
Lena Headey Breaks Silence on Her Weirdly Brilliant Lost MCU Character

Instead of a standard cameo, Headey revealed that she was one of a weird three-way group of witches with Angus Sampson and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Their purpose? To lead Thor in the underworld. Yes, really. And even when that premise is not enough to make you curious, the tone will: Headey called the group very, very funny and kind of insane.

“We were witches. Oh, she’s a delight. She is a joy. She is a divine joy. So yeah, bummer that we didn’t make the cut,” she told SR. It is the sort of quirky idea that seems to fit Waititi perfectly, with his quirky approach to storytelling. However, somehow, it never saw the light of day.
Yet somewhere in the middle of the way, the creative team appears to have reached a dead end. And just like that, the coven was cut loose. There’s something a bit frustrating about that. ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ was quite heavy-handed with humor and absurdity. The presence of a trio of witches who guide Thor would have fit perfectly well, perhaps even made the more controversial aspects of the film even more controversial.
Rather, it has become another MCU moment that has been lost and can only be imagined by fans. Headey herself did not conceal her disappointment, describing the experience as a bummer. But she also clarified that she loved her co-stars, particularly Randolph, whom she said was a pleasure to work with.

MCU’s Cutting Room Floor Is Getting Crowded

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has never lacked in cameos, whether it be unexpected celebrity appearances or inside jokes.
However, stories like this one are a reminder of how much gets cut from the cutting room floor. Even without her Marvel debut, Headey hasn’t slowed down. She still plays a variety of roles, and her versatility is much more than just Cersei Lannister.
Nevertheless, one cannot help but wonder what fans have missed. Because let’s be honest, a “trio of madness” wandering the underworld with Thor? That’s exactly the kind of chaos the MCU could use more of.
