Jeremy Renner has teased that the upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies may have an enormous cast as Marvel is trying to bring back some of its popular characters. The production house has seen some major film failures in the past year, and is therefore seemingly amping up to for damage control.
The success of its most recent film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘ has set the stage for a good year, while Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom has also graced the production’s fate. Amid all these developments, Renner, the ‘Avengers’ actor, recently sat down for an interview with US Weekly, wherein he gave some hints about ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘. Here’s what he said.

Jeremy Renner Talks About Reuniting The Original Avengers
Jeremy Renner revealed during a recent interview that he was shocked to hear that his former ‘Avengers’ co-star Robert Downey Jr. had signed on to play the villain Doctor Doom in the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘. “I started blowing up [Downey’s] phone,” said Renner. “I’m like, ‘What’s going on? Are you hiding this from us?’” he added, revealing that he was kept in the dark about Downey’s surprise return to the MCU.
When asked about returning himself for the ‘Avengers’ sequels, Renner noted the challenge of getting schedules to line up. “I think it’s going to be challenging to get everybody together…there’s a lot of people in the Avengers universe now” he said.
However, he teased that plans may come together, saying “I think we’ll probably be doing it”. Renner seemed optimistic about possibly reprising his role as Hawkeye alongside Downey and other original ‘Avengers’ co-stars.

Will Marvel Introduce New Heroes To The ‘Avengers’ Franchise?
With more characters entering the MCU every year, Jeremy Renner acknowledged it is indeed difficult to include everyone who has been a part of the franchise so far. “I think they’re going to probably have to piece it together like week-by-week, just for people’s schedules” he said.
However, he expressed excitement over the huge scope of the films. “There’s a lot of people, but I’m excited. I think we’ll probably be doing it,” he said. The actor hopes that Marvel will bring in as many heroes as possible, whether original Avengers or newer additions. Fans can therefore expect the team to be bigger than ever.
When asked further about plans for the ‘Avengers’ sequels, Renner said he is hopeful. “We’ll have to figure it all out. It’s all brand new. It all just happened. They just made the announcement, so I guess we got to start figuring it all out” he said.
While nothing is confirmed yet about his role, Renner seems eager to reprise his role as Hawkeye and take part in these massive upcoming Marvel crossovers.
