Jake Schreier, the director of the upcoming film ‘Thunderbolts*’, has revealed that Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova will be the heart of the highly anticipated Marvel film. While we all knew that she was the leader, her role as the film’s lead was very exciting.
Just like all other Marvel projects ‘Thunderbolts*’ has been shrouded in secrecy and fan speculation. However, it could be said that Lewis Pullman’s ‘Bob’ being Sentry was one of the worst-kept Marvel secrets.

“Yelena is in a certain place at the beginning of the film, and how she finds her way out of that place, and who she finds herself out of that place with, is at the heart of the story,” he added. This suggests that her character arc and relationships with the rest of the Thunderbolts will shape much of the film’s narrative and emotional core.
So, fans can look forward to seeing Yelena take on a leadership role within the team while exploring more depth of her character. A new trailer, presented by David Harbour at the D23 fan event, offers a deeper look at the team of antiheroes and villains forced to undertake dangerous missions for the greater good of humanity.
The special look further emphasized Yelena’s prominence, showcasing her interactions with characters like Alexei (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). Moreover, fans can expect intense action, sharp character development, and plenty of tension between these unlikely allies.

He confirmed that Pullman will portray Sentry, a significant Marvel Comics character. Harbour hinted at the dynamic between his character and Sentry. “Yeah, I don’t think he knows what to make of that. I mean, again, we’ll have to see how it unfolds with all of that […] I don’t think you guys know much about Bob/Sentry yet,” he stated.
“You’ll have to see what that becomes in this movie. I don’t want to give too much away,” he added. The inclusion of Sentry, a character with immense power and a complex psyche, adds a compelling layer to the narrative. Additionally, it further heightens anticipation for the film that will close out Phase 5 of the MCU.
