How Tony Dalton’s Swordsman Can Make A Comeback In ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get even richer with interconnected characters and storylines. The integration of Netflix’s Marvel Universe with the MCU with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is enough to excite fans of the darker characters.

Now, insider reports claim that Tony Dalton, known for his role as Lalo Salamanca in ‘Better Call Saul’, will appear in the show as Swordsman, further adding to the excitement.

According to insiders, Tony Dalton will reprise his role as Jack Duquesne, aka Swordsman, in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. Fans are ecstatic about the news, especially given the Swordsman’s comic book history and street-level ties in the MCU.

While this news hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel, Daniel Richtman previously confirmed that Duquesne will cross paths with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. With ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ already boasting a stacked cast, Dalton’s return as the charismatic, sword-wielding socialite feels like a natural fit.

Moreover, now insider MyTimeToShine confirms that Dalton’s Swordsman will indeed return for the show. However, this wouldn’t be Dalton’s first MCU appearance. Dalton first played the character in ‘Hawkeye’. In the show, Jack is initially positioned as a suspicious character, seemingly entangled in criminal activities. But by the end of the series, his character took a surprising turn.

He revealed himself to be less of a villain and more of a misunderstood, eccentric stepfather to Kate Bishop. Dalton’s version of Swordsman differs significantly from the comic book iteration, where Jacques Duquesne was a criminal-turned-Avenger with a deep connection to Clint Barton.

Instead, the MCU reimagined Jack as a wealthy socialite obsessed with swordplay, with no direct ties to Hawkeye’s origins. Despite these differences, fans embraced Dalton’s portrayal. Now, bringing Jack into ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ could serve as a clever way to expand his character.

Moreover, the connection between Hawkeye and Daredevil is already established through Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. As the primary antagonist in both shows, Kingpin serves as a central thread that could bring these characters together.

With ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ split into two nine-episode seasons, the future of the series hinges on the success of its initial installments. While rumors about a potential third season are circulating, insider Daniel Richtman has clarified that a green light for Season 3 will depend entirely on the performance of Seasons 1 and 2.

In the meantime, insider reports have teased big surprises for Season 2, including unexpected cameos. Specific names haven’t been confirmed. However, fans are speculating about the return of beloved characters from the Netflix ‘Daredevil’ series, such as Elodie Yung’s Elektra, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones.

Charlie Cox has also hinted at explosive confrontations between Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Speaking about their dynamic, Cox emphasized the importance of building tension between the two characters. “I believe you have to be really careful when and how you bring these two people into the same room,” Cox shared in a recent interview.
