Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel, the creative duo behind the ‘Venom’ trilogy, engaged in a debate about a hypothetical showdown between Venom and Bane. The two pondered upon who would come out on top.
They also revealed that they always wanted the Venom films to be a trilogy. Additionally, they talked about the huge amount of screen time cut out from the films due to the 90-minute run time.
Tom Hardy Believes Venom Vs Bane Would End Up In A Tie
Venom actor Tom Hardy believes that it would be a draw. However, Marcel disagrees. “I think it would be a draw. I think they would continue to fight,” Hardy told Collider. Marcel, however, favored Venom, stating, “Venom would bite his head off, though, wouldn’t he?”

Hardy countered with a different strategy, proposing that Bane’s formidable strength and combat skills could give him the edge: “No, Bane’s nails. I think you’ve gotta continue to have those fights going.” The debate extended to other iconic villains from the Batman universe.
Hardy even questioned the plausibility of Catwoman defeating Bane and Batman, suggesting that these matchups might not be as straightforward as they seem. Additionally, Tom and Kelly also discussed their long-term vision for the ‘Venom’ trilogy.
They revealed that they had a clear plan for the series from the very beginning. “We knew it was going to be a trilogy,” Hardy explained. “We were thinking about the evolution and the trajectory of the characters and how to spin it,” he added. The duo’s collaborative approach to the ‘Venom’ franchise has resulted in a successful trilogy.
Venom Trilogy And ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Had To Cut A Lot Of Content
Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel also opened up about the extensive world-building and character development that went into the films. Moreover, while much of this material made it to the screen, there were numerous ideas and scenes that were ultimately cut.

“There was so much,” Hardy said, reflecting on the early drafts of the scripts. “And the cloak-and-dagger elements that we had. We were touching on so much stuff that it was almost impossible to get into a 90-minute or a two-hour-long film,” he explained.
Marcel echoed Hardy’s sentiments. She highlighted the challenges of condensing complex storylines into a feature-length film. Additionally, One of the most exciting aspects of the ‘Venom’ trilogy is the creative freedom that Hardy and Marcel were afforded.
With ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, the duo had the opportunity to bring their vision to life without significant studio interference. “This one we held onto, and this one, we were given free rein by the studio to make the movie that we wanted to make,” Marcel said.
“So, all of those things that had fallen by the wayside from other scripts didn’t,” she added. While fans may never get to see the full extent of the cut content, the knowledge that there were even more layers to the ‘Venom’ universe definitely adds to the intrigue.
