At the Marvel Fanfare panel during New York Comic Con, Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox took a moment to reflect on the unpredictable future of their iconic characters, Kingpin and Daredevil, within the MCU.
Their excitement and uncertainty were palpable as they shared insights with ScreenRant on what might lie ahead for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. Vincent D’Onofrio also hinted at the growing significance of Kingpin as a formidable street-level presence in the MCU.
“We Know So Little”: Vincent D’Onforio And Charlie Cox Were Shocked By Marvel’s Secrecy
Vincent D’Onofrio, known for his commanding portrayal of Kingpin, was candid about the minimal information Marvel’s actors receive. “One of the most interesting things about being in the MCU with these characters is we know so little about what the plan is,” he shared.
D’Onofrio expressed eagerness to see Kingpin take on other street-level heroes, like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, or even Spider-Man. “Bring them on,” he said. Additionally, MCU’s tendency to keep secrets from its own stars was highlighted by a humorous moment D’Onofrio recounted.
While on a Zoom call, a writer accidentally let slip a piece of information, only for a Marvel “boss” to swiftly step in. “Just the other day, were in a conversation with our writers, and one of them slipped and said something, we were both like, “What?” It seemed like something beyond our show,” Vincent revealed.
Moreover, this interaction underscores Marvel’s mysterious approach to protecting its storylines and building suspense. The secrecy surrounding ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ even took Cox and D’Onofrio by surprise when Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige unexpectedly announced a second season during the D23 Expo.
“We had no idea!” Cox revealed, laughing as he remembered their shock on stage in front of 12,000 fans. Even Marvel’s backstage team appeared just as surprised. While the roadmap for Kingpin and Daredevil remains unknown, both Cox and D’Onofrio are ready to dive deeper into their roles.
Charlie Cox On Evolving Daredevil For MCU’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Charlie Cox also shared insights into his approach to reprising the character in the MCU’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. While the character has a rich history, Cox aimed to bring fresh layers to Matt Murdock in this new iteration.

“One thing on our side was that it’s been so many years,” Cox explained. “I have aged! Matt is a little bit older, maybe a little bit more beaten down, maybe also a little bit wiser,” he added. Moreover, the actor also hinted at a shift in Daredevil’s legal career.
“The way he practices law has changed,” Cox revealed. “He’s taking a different path in terms of his legal profession.” This evolution suggests that the character will face new challenges and opportunities, both as a superhero and a lawyer. So, it is clear that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will offer a fresh take on a beloved character.
