The release of ‘WandaVision‘ in early 2021 was a groundbreaking event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series was bold, heartfelt, and pleasantly experimental. It was a combination of sitcom nostalgia and profound psychological narrative.
The show brought us grief, chaos magic, and one of the most multi-layered performances in the MCU, in Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. However, amid all its brilliance, ‘WandaVision’ also carried one major frustration: it promised a multiverse story that never arrived. Fans were convinced it would open the door to the X-Men and alternate universes. Until, of course, Marvel made it into a joke.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Giving Fans The ‘WandaVision’ Payoff They’ve Waited For

The MCU is now finally returning to the same orbit years later. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is coming in 2026, and the world ‘WandaVision’ appeared to be hinting at is actually coming to fruition. And in the process, Marvel is correcting one of its most notorious miscalculations. In order to grasp the sense of importance that ‘Doomsday’ has at the moment, we must go back to the ninth episode of ‘WandaVision’.

Despite its impact, the show left many fans with a bitter taste because they hoped it would be the start of the Multiverse Saga of Marvel. Wanda Maximoff was in the process of becoming the Scarlet Witch, a creature who can rewrite history. Add to that the heavy psychological undertones of the show and a surprise appearance by Evan Peters as “Pietro,” and the fans had all the reasons to think that Marvel was starting to unite its movie worlds.
When Peters came into the picture, the internet went crazy. Was this really that Quicksilver from the X-Men movies? Had Wanda’s chaos magic pulled a version of her brother from another reality? Is this the bridge between the Fox universe and the MCU? Nope. Pietro was revealed to be Ralph Bohner, a random Westview resident, who was enchanted by Agatha Harkness in one of the most notorious reveals in the history of Marvel TV.
It was a cheeky meta joke that some viewers appreciated. However, for others, it was a colossal tease. The MCU had been teasing the multiverse, only to not do anything about it. It was ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ that finally gave the multiverse that everyone had been anticipating, uniting three generations of Spider-Men and villains across the realities. ‘WandaVision’ might have alluded to a multiversal future, but ‘No Way Home’ brought it to life. And now, Marvel is returning to redeem the promise.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Make The X-Men Connection A Reality

In case ‘WandaVision’ was the fake dawn of the multiverse, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ appears to be the sunrise. Reportedly, the cast of the film will feature such legendary X-Men actors as Ian McKellen (Magneto), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler). It’s a stunning lineup, one that finally unites the world’s fans who have been waiting to see together since Marvel acquired Fox in 2019.

The crossover won’t be a cameo this time, or a dream sequence, or a meta gag. It will be canon. In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Fox-era X-Men will allegedly unite to fight the new god-tier villain in the MCU, Doctor Doom. To old school fans, this is not a crossover; it is redemption. The fake-out with Evan Peters in ‘WandaVision’ could have been disappointing in the past. However, it also set the stage for what the MCU is about to reap.
The multiverse is no longer a rumor or a theory; it is the stage itself. The Influence of Wanda is still felt in the Multiverse. Although ’Avengers: Doomsday’ is currently developing, its relation to ‘WandaVision’ is more than meets the eye. Wanda may not be confirmed for the movie (yet), but her influence is woven into the fabric of the Multiverse Saga.
