Who Is Muse? Everything You Need To Know About ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Villain

Daredevil fans were given the first look at the villainous Muse in the D23 trailer for the Disney+ MCU series ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘. While he didn’t say or do much, his haunting mask and black liquid design left many wondering who exactly this new threat facing Matt Murdock is. With Muse set to play a big role in the highly anticipated revival, here is everything you need to know about the creepy new antagonist.

The trailer revealed Muse to look very similar to his comic book counterpart, with an all-white outfit and mask featuring black ink dripping from the eye holes. While details of his MCU iteration are still unreliable, his comic origins provide clues about the dangerous foe Daredevil may be up against.

Muse made his debut in the comics by confronting Daredevil over a horrific mural painted with the blood and bodies of over 100 people. It seems his MCU introduction will closely follow this origin, leaving New York City terrified by his grisly works.

He possesses super strength, allowing him to tear bodies apart with his bare hands. Most frightening of all is his ability to absorb and process sensory information around him at superhuman speeds.

Essentially, this allows Muse to become imperceptible in combat situations. As Daredevil relies heavily on his heightened senses, this power directly counters Matt Murdock and makes Muse an extremely formidable foe. It will be terrifying to see these disturbing abilities brought to life on screen in the Disney+ series.

What Makes Muse So Dangerous?

A recurring theme with Muse is that he sees himself not as a criminal, but as an artist using living bodies for his gruesome works. He believes he is bestowing immortality on his victims by incorporating them into his “art”.

This deluded sense of self and warped worldview is what makes Muse so unsettling. The show is sure to explore the disturbing philosophy behind this villain’s actions and what drove him to such depraved acts of violence.

His dark philosophy and the gruesome way he carries out his killings leave victims confused and horrified. Muse’s introduction undoubtedly gives viewers an early taste of the mature, gritty storytelling Daredevil is known for, and sets the stage for a frightening new battle for the Man Without Fear.
