With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arriving this December and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ set to cap off the Multiverse Saga a year later, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Thor’s story is far from over.
In fact, recent remarks by Chris Hemsworth indicate that the God of Thunder might be heading to his most ambitious chapter ever.
Marvel Isn’t Done Reinventing Thor And ‘Secret Wars’ Could Prove It

The ‘Doomsday’ teaser already established an emotional tone, showing Thor praying to Odin with tears in his eyes, a rare moment of vulnerability for a hero who has endured more loss than most in the MCU. It didn’t feel like a farewell. It didn’t feel like a farewell. If anything, it felt like the calm before something truly massive. And now Hemsworth himself has contributed to the speculation.

When marketing a new project, Hemsworth disclosed that he had discussed with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige the possibility of carrying on with Thor’s arc after ‘Doomsday’. According to Hemsworth, there are ideas for at least “a couple more” appearances, with an emphasis on taking the character in a bold and unexpected direction.
That alone is exciting. Thor has already experienced one of the most dramatic transformations in the history of the MCU. He went from an arrogant prince to a grieving warrior who finds his way back to his mission.
The fact that Marvel still has something unique to do implies that they are not finished redefining him. With the time frame, one cannot help but make the connections. If Thor manages to survive ‘Doomsday’, and everything indicates that he will, then ‘Secret Wars’ seems like the logical next step in his evolution.
After ‘Doomsday’, Thor Could Become The Multiverse’s Ultimate Wild Card

In the 2015 Secret Wars comic event, God Emperor Doom rules over Battleworld, enforced by an army of Thor variants known as the Thor Corps. It is a crazy idea to have dozens of alternate Thors as multiversal enforcers, but it is precisely the type of spectacle that the Multiverse Saga has been leading up to. Think of Hemsworth as a God of Thunder in several different forms.

The emotional and visual possibilities are enormous. It would enable Thor to fight not only evil, but also his own reflections. Thor entering a multiversal limelight is deserved after years of development, comedy, heartbreak, and reinvention.
If ‘Secret Wars’ is indeed the big finale of this era, it would be like fate to grant one of the original Avengers a mythic, larger-than-life sendoff, or evolution. And honestly? We can’t think of a more thunderous way to close the saga.
