When ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ premiered, fans couldn’t help but speculate about whether the beloved Spider-Man will make an appearance. After all, Peter Parker and Matt Murdock are practically neighbors in the MCU.
Their comic book history is filled with rooftop banter, courtroom drama, and city-saving team-ups. However, despite the perfect setup and swirling rumors, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was nowhere to be found in the explosive season 1 finale of ‘Born Again’.
Spider-Man’s Existence In The ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Universe Explained

As Wilson Fisk tightened his grip on New York City, launching a full-blown crackdown on vigilantes, many fans expected Spider-Man to make an appearance. It would’ve made sense. It would’ve felt right. So, let’s break down why Spider-Man didn’t show up. After the reality-resetting events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker chose a solitary life.

No friends, no family, and a tiny apartment in Manhattan. While the world forgot his face, they didn’t forget Spider-Man. He’s still out there, helping the little guy, probably swinging through alleyways just a few blocks from where Daredevil is taking down gangsters. That’s what made his absence in ‘Born Again’ so jarring.
The events of the show directly impacted his world. By the finale, Fisk had become mayor and declared war on masked heroes. New laws were passed, vigilantes were being hunted, and Hell’s Kitchen felt more like a police state. With Spider-Man still active, it’s impossible to imagine he wouldn’t at least be aware of the chaos unfolding. Even more notably, Kingpin mentions Spider-Man during the show, proving that he still exists.
Could Spider-Man Appear In Daredevil’s Next Chapter?

While Marvel Studios has regained the rights to most of its characters, Spider-Man remains co-owned by Sony Pictures. Their ongoing collaboration with Marvel allows Peter Parker to appear in MCU movies, but television still remains out of reach. Spider-Man appearing in a Disney+ series like ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ would require a whole separate legal arrangement with Sony.

It’s not impossible, Marvel has pulled off bigger surprises. But it’s complicated. And sometimes, those complications mean characters like Spider-Man stay benched, even when their presence would make perfect sense. Moreover, while fans might’ve been disappointed, keeping the spotlight on Daredevil gave Charlie Cox room to own the role.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has officially been renewed for a second season, set to premiere in March 2026. That’s a relatively quick turnaround by modern streaming standards. Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum even hinted that they want the series to run for multiple seasons, calling the world of New York superheroes “extremely rich.”
If season 2 scales up the battle against Fisk, bringing more heroes into the mix, then that could be the moment we finally see Spider-Man enter the picture. Until then, we’ll have to content ourselves with references and what-ifs. But one thing’s clear: Spider-Man not showing up in ‘Born Again’ felt like a missed opportunity.
