The highly-anticipated second season of ‘X-Men ’97’ is shaping up to be as epic as the first season. Additionally, in a recent Q&A, executive producer Brad Winderbaum dropped a major bombshell.
He revealed that the new season will feature not just one, but two additional X-teams! This news sent ripples of excitement through the fandom, just as expected.

Brad Winderbaum Confirms There Will Be At Least Two Teams In ‘X-Men ‘97’ Season 2
According to Collider, Brad at first gave a vague answer. “There’s many teams, in Marvel, that have the letter “X” that are followed by a hyphen,” he stated. However, his next sentence quenched the thirst of fans who wanted a sneak peek. “I would put it to you like this… there’s two other X teams in Season 2,” he added.
Additionally, speculation about which teams will make an appearance began almost immediately. Previously, it was confirmed that Polaris, Lady Deathstrike, and Sabretooth will be joining the cast. This was enough for fans to start piecing the puzzle.
Polaris was originally a member of X-Factor. Her inclusion hints at other members of her team like Havok, Wolfsbane, or Quicksilver joining in on the action. Additionally, Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth have a history with Weapon X. Moreover, this further suggests that a version of the Weapon X-Men, perhaps even including characters like Domino or Warpath, could be introduced.

‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2: A Deep Dive
Beyond the exciting news of multiple X-teams, ‘X-Men ’97’ other details about season 2 have also emerged. It was revealed that the series was taking inspiration from the iconic ‘New X-Men’ comic book series, with new suit designs that pay homage to Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s work.
Additionally, this visual overhaul promises to inject a modern look into the classic animated style. Another significant development is the change in the show’s head writer. Matthew Chauncey, known for his work on ‘What If…?’, is taking the reins from Beau DeMayo.
This change in creative leadership might go two ways. However, it ensures a new perspective. Additionally, production on the second season is already well underway. Editing is also in progress. In addition, the writing team has also reportedly started working on Season 3.
