Rumors have been swirling for months about Tom Holland‘s ‘Spider-Man’ appearing in a crossover film with previous Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. However, Garfield has shut down the rumors while promoting his latest film at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The actor is clearly tired of the constant speculation surrounding his potential involvement in the still-untitled Spider-Man movie. While doing interviews for his new A24 film ‘We Live in Time‘ at the festival, Garfield took time to address the ‘Spider-Man 4′ rumors head-on with journalists. Here’s what he said.
Andrew Garfield Quashes Rumors With A Blunt Response
Having dealt with years of questions about the superhero role, Andrew Garfield seemed exasperated at the latest round of speculation sparked by hints from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about the actor’s involvement in ‘Spider-Man 4‘. Garfield wanted to set the record straight on where he stands with the planned Spider-Man movie.

When asked directly about the rumors of joining the Spider-Man crossover by the Indie Wire, Garfield was blunt in his response. “I mean, like the internet is a big place,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of people who will just say anything to get clicks. So you might have been duped, I’m afraid,” the actor added.
Garfield clearly isn’t a fan of rumors spreading online without a real source. As an actor used to such speculation, he seems to take most of it with a grain of salt.
Andrew Garfield’s New Project with Acclaimed Director Luca Guadagnino
While shutting down ‘Spider-Man 4‘ talk, Andrew Garfield shared his excitement about a new film he just wrapped up with acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino. Titled ‘After The Hunt‘, it co-stars Julia Roberts, Chloë Sevigny, and Michael Stuhlbarg in a drama about a professor facing accusations and secrets surfacing.
Garfield praised Guadagnino as “brilliant” and said the film would be “quite radical and challenging“. He also expressed how happy he was to finally work with the director after wanting to since 2009’s ‘I Am Love‘.

Garfield is clearly busy with new projects rather than looking back to previous roles. His blunt denial of the online rumors suggests he has moved on from speculating about returning to Spider-Man.
Fans may just have to wait for official word from Marvel on the crossover film before getting their hopes up of seeing the actor back in the iconic suit. For now, Garfield remains focused on the positive feedback for We Live in Time and his promising work with Luca Guadagnino.
