Rumours about who will become the next ‘James Bond‘ continue to spread among fans of the famous spy franchise. Ever since Daniel Craig stepped away from the role, people have been guessing which actor might take over the iconic character next.
Recently, Cillian Murphy was asked about the possibility of joining the Bond franchise. The question came during a public interview, and Murphy’s answer was very short. Still, his reply quickly caught people’s attention and started circulating online.
Cillian Murphy Shuts Down James Bond Speculation

Cillian Murphy recently appeared on Extra’s red carpet, where he was joined by fellow Irish actor Barry Keoghan. During the interview, both actors were asked, “Would you ever play James Bond or maybe a villain in the Bond franchise?”
To this, Keoghan responded first. He admitted that he does not see himself playing the famous secret agent. “I don’t think I’d play Bond. It’s such a role that requires certain things,” he explained, adding that playing an antagonist in the series would be appealing.
Murphy, on the other hand, kept his response extremely simple. When the question came his way, he answered with just four words: “I’m kind of busy.” The brief four-word answer drew laughs during the interview and quickly circulated online as fans continued discussing the future of the franchise.

Murphy Is On A Casting Rumor-Debunking Spree

While Bond rumours continue to swirl, that is not the only major franchise speculation Murphy has had to deal with recently. Around the same time, fans began linking him to the role of Lord Voldemort in the upcoming ‘Harry Potter‘ series.
The rumour gained traction after a TikTok clip featuring Ralph Fiennes went viral. Fiennes, who famously played Voldemort in the original films, was asked who might take over the role in the new series. He responded that he had heard his “shoes are already filled” and added that Murphy would be “a very good choice.”

That comment quickly sparked speculation online. Fans began connecting the dots, and many assumed Fiennes was hinting that Murphy had already been cast. Soon after, social media posts, fan edits, and headlines spread across the internet claiming the Irish actor would become the next Dark Lord.
However, Murphy has now firmly shut down the rumour. In a recent interview with The Times, he made his position clear. When asked directly whether he would play Voldemort, the actor replied, “I’m categorically not.”
Instead, Murphy appears focused on returning to familiar territory. He has reprised his role as Tommy Shelby in the new film, ‘The Immortal Man‘. It essentially continues and concludes the story of the popular series, ‘Peaky Blinders‘.
Meanwhile, the search for the next Bond continues to attract attention across Hollywood. Craig last played the MI6 agent in ‘No Time to Die‘, and the franchise is now preparing for its next chapter. For now, the producers behind the Bond franchise have not confirmed who will become the next 007.
