Fans are raving about ‘Enola Holmes 2‘, which just came out recently on Netflix. Millie Bobby Brown made her debut as the titular teenage sister of the great literary icon Sherlock Holmes in the first mystery film, which was released in 2020 and was based on the young adult novel series of the same name.
Many hailed it as a much-needed treat of a movie, and soon after, a sequel was released in November 2022. All the anticipated characters are present in the new movie, but one is clearly missing. So why isn’t Sam Claflin playing Mycroft in ‘Enola Holmes 2‘?

‘Enola Holmes 2’ Is A Success
‘Enola Holmes 2′ had its Netflix debut on November 4th, and the Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill-starrer is currently showing signs of success after overtaking other titles as the most-watched movie within a short period of time. The movie was a much-anticipated follow-up to the 2020 film. The sequel has only been available on Netflix for a little over a week, but according to the company’s most recent global statistics, it was streamed for 64 million hours in 93 different countries during its first three days there. It outperformed both top TV series and recently released movies on Netflix.
The movie stars Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character, Helena Bonham Carter reprises her role as Eudoria Holmes, while Sherlock Holmes is played by Henry Cavill. David Thewlis, Louis Partridge, Hannah Dodd, Himesh Patel, and more are a part of the star cast as well. Despite the brilliant performers and performances, fans are missing one character from the highly anticipated show. That’s right. It’s Mycroft.

Why Sam Claflin Was Missing From The Sequel?
Due to schedule issues, Sam Claflin was unable to participate in the filming. This is why he did not return as Mycroft in ‘Enola Holmes 2‘. Director Harry Bradbeer answered the question if removing Mycroft was a creative decision or if was it because of a scheduling conflict. The director Harry Bradbeer responded by saying, “Well, it was Sam’s schedule that became very clear, so Sam was not going to be in it… We were very sorry that Sam couldn’t be in this one.”
He further said, “If there was a future one we would love to have him back. But that was just the practicalities of life. That then meant though that we had to then concentrate on Sherlock, which has some advantages in the sense and that it becomes a sharp pencil if you like. You’re just having to work with that particular relationship. It had to be about Sherlock and Enola and coming together. So I guess there is some blessings in having less pieces because you can do more with what you have.”
Bradbeer went on to speak about how the film focuses just on the siblings Enola and Sherlock. “That then meant though that we had to then concentrate on Sherlock, which has some advantages in the sense and that it becomes a sharp pencil if you like. You’re just having to work with that particular relationship. It had to be about Sherlock and Enola and coming together,” he explained.
The team “absolutely loves him, and we would love to have him again,” he added. This means we might see more of Mycroft in the future films.
