Netflix‘s rom-com spy thriller ‘The Union‘ revolves around the two high school sweethearts starring Mark Wahlberg as Mike and Halle Berry as Roxxane. As they both are lovers in the narrative, you would expect them to do all the things the couple do, like a kiss? yes.
But surprisingly in the 109-minute film, the couple never kissed, which was the decision of the director Julian Farino. It was a long debated decision, which was calculated according to the overall performance of the movie.
Julian Farino Has A Long Vision For ‘The Union’ Movie Series
Julian Farino told Variety during the LA premiere on Monday, that he wanted the fans to leave wanting for more. “We take the relationship to a certain place, and then I think you’ve got to leave a lot of space to go,” Farino said.
He continued, “Netflix always said to us at the beginning, “You have to think of this as a possible three-movie idea.“So if an audience comes out wanting a kiss, then we’ve probably done alright, in my opinion.”
Faruno was further joined by Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg on the red carpet while they discussed how they brought the Netflix action adventure to life. The film revolves around the secret service division ‘The Union‘ that specializes in turning blue-collar jobs into deadly spies.
After an overseas mission is compromised Roxxane returns to her hometown state of New Jersey, where she has to recruit her high school beau Mike.

Mark Wahlberg And Halle Berry Also Agreed To The ‘No Kiss’ Deal
Berry and Wahlberg also echoed their views on the no-kiss featured in ‘The Union’. Berry explained the logic of skipping it: “Once they kiss, then it’s over. We’re hoping if we get to do a second one, we’ll let that chase continue.” “You want to see the journey — to see these two high school sweethearts find each other”‘, she added.
Wahlberg also added his views: “If we get to go on and do something else, I would imagine there’ll be a lot more than a kiss. But, you know, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
Apart from romance ‘The Union’ also serves with plenty of practical actions. The film’s shooting took place in New Jersey, New York, London, and Slovenia, with casting a wide scope of production in an increasingly prudent industry. Berry was thrilled to be part of the production that shot on location rather than sticking to sound stages.
