Marvel’s ‘Wakanda Forever‘ is special in a lot of ways. The most important is that it’s a story without King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and marks the end of Phase Four in MCU.

According to a Variety report, the Ryan Coogler-directorial has dominated the domestic box office in its debut week. It earned around $180 million over the weekend, surpassing the November opening record in North America.

Globally, the superhero film has minted a whopping $330 million with $150 million of that figure coming from 55 overseas markets. The success is bittersweet as the original lead actor Boseman isn’t around.

Made on a budget of $250 million and shot during COVID-19, the film is expected to become a massive financial success. However, it wouldn’t achieve the one billion mark like its predecessor because of the Russia-Ukraine war and the pandemic.

An LGBTQ scene from ‘Wakanda Forever‘ has been edited out for Kuwait release, a country known for its strict censorship rules. The affectionate scene in question is between Michaela Coel’s Aneka and Florence Kasumba’s Ayo.

The scene is merely 10 second-long and has a display of affection between two people of the same gender. Something that’s a complete no-no in the gulf countries.

A total of one minute has been removed from the film to be shown in Kuwait. Apart from this, another scene where a woman gives birth to a child is also removed. The film has also been accused of queerbaiting.

In the past, Marvel’s ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘ and Pixar’s ‘Lightyear‘ were banned because they had homosexual characters.
