‘The Boogeyman’ Is Based On Stephen King’s Short Story
Stephen King’s writing is always ripe for adaptation. This time, King’s short story ‘The Boogeyman‘ is being made into a movie. It first appeared in Cavalier magazine in 1973, later in Stephen King’s 1978 short story collection ‘Night Shift.’
The majority of the story takes place in a psychiatrist’s office, where a man comes to talk about the “murders” of his three young children. This man believes a mysterious and dark force is residing in his house and seeks help.

Directed by Rob Savage and co-written by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman, ‘The Boogeyman’ stars Madison Hu, Vivien Lyra Blair, Sophie Thatcher, David Dastmalchian, Chris Messina, and Jaynie Verdin.
Initially, the movie was going to be a streaming release for Hulu. But things turned around with the positive response from the test screenings. ‘The Boogeyman‘ now has a theatrical release date of June 2, 2023.
